PURPOSE:

This position will be responsible for sourcing both raw materials (chemicals) and packaging components for New Product Introduction (NPI.)  The Sourcing Project Lead will handle all procurement activities required throughout the project life cycle from RFQ through commercial production.

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Source materials for projects initiated by Sales and Business Development. 
  • Administer requests for quotations, evaluate proposals, and recommend suppliers to Sourcing Project Manager and NPI team. 
  • Negotiate cost, terms, and service with suppliers to meet company’s goals and objectives. 
  • Support RFQs, evaluate proposals, negotiate prices. 
  • Bring forth cost savings ideas to support NPI RFQs and department initiatives. 
  • Source new materials and suppliers within the quality guidelines as required for new and existing products.
  • Establish and maintain high quality working relationships with both domestic and international suppliers that support company goals and objectives while monitoring the level of service, quality, and competitiveness.  Search for new or alternative suppliers. 
  • Support contract creation and execution for key supplier relationships. 
  • Participate in project team meetings as necessary.  
  • Work closely with cross-functional partners in Operations, Project Management, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, I&D. 
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment interacting with plant personnel, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. 
  • Ensure materials sourced meet customer specifications and all documentation supports these specifications.  
  • Possess clear and professional verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Perform commercial procurement of raw materials and packaging components as needed. 
  • Collaborates to develop and maintain departmental work instructions and SOPs to support companywide processes and systems.
  • Possess the technical skills, time management, and communication skills to support a hybrid role. 
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Required 

  • 4-year degree or 4 years equivalent work experience
  • Must have a strong sense of urgency and is improvement and quality driven
  • Ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment 

 

Preferred Additional

  • Experience with USP/NF/Food Grade chemicals a plus
  • Experience with DMF (Drug Master File)
  • Experience with NetSuite a plus
