The Product Development & Validation Coordinator will coordinate product development and validation between Nittoku and UGN. This position will support the UGN product development team with various product development activities.
What you will do for UGN:
- Support the UGN team from initial requests for quote (RFQ) to the start of production (SOP) to ensure a seamless connection between UGN and the Nittoku development team.
- Ensure requests from Japanese customers and Nittoku related to product development and validation are answered promptly.
- Stay current with best practices and communicate best practice ideas for product development, processes, and tooling to the Product & Process Engineering Manager.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with Japanese customers and serve as a liaison between the customer and other stakeholders at UGN.
- Serve as an active participant in product development meetings.
- Create a bill of materials that answers RFQ requirements and supports the internal RFQ process.
- Partner with the purchasing department on the creation and negotiation of material data sheets with suppliers.
- Coordinate and support new product launches; participate in trials and provide support documentation.
- Create trial reports with various data points and distribute to UGN stakeholders.
- Develop and transfer equipment and process parameters to the engineering department.
- Maintain responsibility for various Kaizen activities and monitor and maintain metrics.
- Participate in cost reduction activities and identify areas where UGN can reduce costs without jeopardizing quality.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you will bring to UGN:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university is preferred, ideally in an Engineering discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2+ years of engineering experience, preferably in an automotive-related industry
- Previous automotive experience preferred.
- Must be able to read, write and speak both English and Japanese.
- Ability to understand and communicate technical information both in written and verbal form.
- Strong communication skills; previous experience with Japanese automotive brands preferred.
- Ability to multitask, problem solve, and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be a creative, self-motivated individual who is a team player.
