Job Description:Accepting Applicants for Proposal Submission
Compass Government Solutions is seeking a Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist (DRMP) to provide services at the A.T. Augusta Military Medical Center (ATAMMC) at Fort Belvoir, VA. A Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist ensures safe, high-quality diagnostic imaging by maintaining and testing medical equipment like X-ray, CT, and MRI machines, optimizing image quality with minimal radiation dose, ensuring regulatory compliance, and educating staff on best practices. The DRMP shall perform and provide survey and calibration of Radiologic equipment as required by the MTF, Chief, and the Department of Radiology. They shall perform the services, which a military DRMP with similar training and experience would be called upon to perform while in a similar duty assignment, providing immediate evaluation and management of urgent/emergent problems as they occur.

Job Duties:
- Plan and initiate proper radiological surveys and calibrations within the Diagnostic Radiological Medical Physicist’s defined privileges and the scope of practice of the facility.
- Identify and report those situations and individual cases which have public health significance and carry out effective control measures.
- Develop, modify, and maintain a quality management program for all digital equipment systems in the PACs within the National Capital Region.
- Clearly communicate to other health personnel either orally or in writing, the findings and planned disposition of equipment.
- Provide acceptance testing and periodic surveys of all medical imaging systems to include general purpose radiographic/fluoroscopic units, computed tomography (CT) digital radiographic units, mammographic units, c-arms, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) units and ultrasound units.
- Conduct all medical physics services required under Federal Law for all mammographic operations within the National Capital Region as directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology, ATAMMC.
- Develop and maintain a quality control program for digital radiology (DR). This includes acceptance and periodic testing of DR systems, QC stations and associated equipment.
- Teach medical physics to the medical residents and technologists within Radiology as directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology. Teaching services to other departments will be provided as approved by the Chief, Department of Radiology.
- Educate diagnostic imaging staff to ensure efficient implementation of new technology.
- Participate as part of the Radiology team in assessing procurement actions for new Radiology systems. This includes preparing technical comparisons between vendor systems, site visits, specification preparation for purchase and assistance in evaluation of vendor bids.
- Maintain continuing medical physics education by reading journals and books.
- Attend and participate in all meetings, staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities as directed by Chief, department of Radiology.
- Travel to perform equipment surveys and mission related professional conferences as directed by the Chief, Department of Radiology.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Shall be able to read, write, speak, and understand English well enough to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.
- Shall be knowledgeable of equipment and supply terminology and skill sufficient to identify and use necessary equipment and supplies properly and to communicate proper use with nurses and medical staff members.
- Shall be able to function independently.
- Possess basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Office, Excel, and the Internet.
- Shall demonstrate ability in the areas of interpersonal relations, problem solving and conflict resolution.
Degree/Education:
- Hold a Doctor of Philosophy Degree (PhD) a Doctorate (Ph.D.) degree with concentration in Medical Physics from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience performing medical physics/health physics services, including medical physics services in mammography.
Licensure/Registration:
- Valid state license in one (1) of the fifty (50) United States to provide health physics services for diagnostic radiology surveys and medical physics services for mammography. Licenses and certificates must be renewed and maintained for duration of the contract.
Certifications:
- Possess and maintain current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Board Certification:
- Posses board certification form the American Board of Radiology (ABR) in Diagnostic Radiological Physics. Or
- Meet the Medical Physicist’s qualification requirements of the Food and Drug Administration as outlined in Title 21 Code of Federal Regulation Part 900.12(a)(3).
