Sasco has an exciting full-time opportunity for a Junior Cost & Billing Accountant who is seeking a rewarding career within a high performing and supportive team.
As key member of the Finance & Administration team, the Junior Cost & Billing Accountant will be responsible for assisting and providing support to all areas within the accounting department, accounts payable & receivable, and project accounting (cost and billings)
This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or an early-career professional looking to develop their skills in cost accounting within a supportive and collaborative environment.
This position reports directly to the Accounting Supervisor.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Project Accounting Responsibilities
· Communicate effectively with Project Coordinators and Project Managers regarding contract documents, change orders, purchase orders and contract modifications, approvals and any additional services related to billing.
· Create, update and maintain jobs in Sage ensuring billing set-up is in accordance with the contracts and project workbook.
· Process job cost invoices and communicates with subcontractors and vendors to solve invoice missing information.
· Reconcile vendor statements and collaborate with vendors, subcontractors, and project managers to resolve
discrepancies and collect missing information.
· Subcontractors compliance.
· Prepare monthly billing forecast.
· Prepare and send to customers monthly progress billings and holdback billings, along with supporting documentation as required by the contract.
· Enter daily deposits accurately.
· Generate and distribute Accounts Receivable Aging reports.
· Follow up with clients on outstanding accounts receivable for their portfolio.
· Close out projects according to the internal guidelines.
· Generate project reports: Job Status, holdbacks, gross margin and Work In Progress.
· Market Recovery set-up and bi-weekly reporting.
· Handle Return Material Authorization Administration.
· Respond to accounting and financial inquiries on the projects.
Financial & Administrative Responsibilities:
· Processes office invoices and obtain appropriate approval for payment
· Weekly credit card reconciliation
· Enter employees expenses (from BuildOps, SiteMax and SharePoint)
· Prepare monthly top Vendors and Subcontractors report
· Contributes to the continuous improvement of accounting systems and procedures.
· Performs additional assignments, as directed by the Accounting Supervisor.
· Collection and distribution of mail

Education & Skill Requirements
- Diploma or degree in accounting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and their application.
- Experience working with Microsoft products (Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Experience working with Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate software is an asset.
