We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Purchasing Manager to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will lead procurement operations, cultivate and maintain strong vendor relationships, and drive an inventory strategy that reduces costs while supporting growth. This role is pivotal in ensuring that procurement processes align with company objectives to optimize efficiency and enhance the bottom line.  The Purchasing Manager will prioritize negotiating favorable terms, streamlining supply chain processes, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to support our operational goals. 

Requirements

  

· Develop and execute purchasing strategies that drive cost savings and growth.

· Serve as liaison with vendors ensuring compliance with distributor programs, pricing tiers, and vendor expectations.

· Develop and manage supplier performance metrics (e.g. on-time delivery, quality, lead-time, etc.) and implement continuous improvement plans.

· Work with vendors to maximize annual rebate and channel incentive programs.

· Lead, mentor, and upskill the Purchasing department to create clear goals and training plans while upholding workplace standards.

· Utilize and optimize ERP system (reports and dashboards) and vendor portals.

· Partner with sales to anticipate upcoming projects and adjust purchase plans.

· Identify supply chain risks and develop contingency plans.

· Balance level requirements with carrying costs; improve inventory turns while preventing stock-outs.

· Master and fully leverage purchasing functions of the ERP system to optimize workflows such as purchase order management and automated replenishment, as well identify process improvements and efficiencies, and enhance reporting.

· Monitor and analyze system-generated reports to track open orders, taking necessary action to resolve delays or issues.

· Build ROI model to justify strategic initiatives. 

· Stay up-to-date with ERP performance upgrades and features via TUG (The User Group) *Travel may be required.

· Create regular inventory health reports to identify at-risk/slow-moving SKUs and implement action plans to prevent dead stock.

Education/Experience/Skills/Abilities:

Experience in distribution and/or manufacturing is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years experience in purchasing within a distribution environment. 
  • Expertise in utilizing ERP systems (Infor SX.e) to optimize operational goals. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Capable of efficiently managing workload while maintaining a high level of organization and accuracy.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to thorough and precise work.
  • Familiarity with electrical products is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities to foster and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, and vendors.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
