The Assistant Banquet Director supports the Director of Banquets in the planning, coordination, and execution of banquet events, ensuring exceptional service and guest satisfaction. This role oversees daily operations, manages banquet staff, and collaborates with other departments to deliver seamless, high-quality events that align with the property’s standards and brand.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS |
- Assist in managing all banquet functions including setup, service, and breakdown.
- Ensure compliance with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), guest requirements, and hotel standards.
- Monitor service flow and adjust staffing or processes as needed to maintain efficiency and labor management.
- Oversee the proper use, maintenance, and storage of banquet equipment and supplies.
- Supervise banquet captains, servers, and support staff during events.
- Assist with scheduling, staffing, and labor management to align with business levels.
- Train and coach team members on service standards, safety protocols, and guest engagement.
- Assist with employee evaluations and reviews.
- Foster a positive work environment and motivate staff to deliver exceptional experiences.
- Ensure guest satisfaction by responding promptly to inquiries, requests, and concerns.
- Coordinate with meeting planners or group leaders for any special requests, timing communications or service expectations to ensure event execution in line with their expectations.
- Support post-event evaluations and follow-ups with clients to ensure service expectations were met or identify areas of opportunity.
- Assist in managing labor costs, break management, inventories, and supply expenses to meet budgetary goals.
- Ensure accurate billing and reconciliation of banquet charges.
- Support forecasting and revenue management.
- Uphold health, sanitation, and safety standards at all times.
- Ensure compliance with liquor laws, fire codes, and other regulatory requirements.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE |
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- 2–4 years of Food & Beverage or Banquets experience, with supervisory responsibilities
REQUIREMENTS |
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency in banquet/event software, POS systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS |
- Ability to stand and move for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Capability to lift up to 30 lbs and assist with event setups.
- Ability to remain effective in high-pressure environments, communicate clearly with others, deliver excellent customer service, and respond positively to feedback from supervisors.
- Flexible and adaptable, able to shift tasks frequently and manage interruptions while maintaining productivity.
- Flexible schedule availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
WORK ENVIRONMENT |
- Duties are performed primarily in banquet and event spaces, which may include both indoor and outdoor areas.
- Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions may occur when supporting outdoor functions or transporting items between buildings.
- The role requires working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments with frequent changes in activity.
- Regular exposure to moderate to high levels of noise from crowds, music, and event operations should be expected.

Employer-provided Basic Life Insurance and Basic AD&D are provided after 90 days of employment. 401K eligibility is available to full-time employees after 90 days of employment, part-time employees can qualify to participate in a 401(k) plan after two consecutive years of working at least 500 hours.
