TAMKO is seeking a Lubrication Technician at our Tuscaloosa, AL facility to join our maintenance team in an entry-level role focused on preventive maintenance, lubrication systems, and contamination control. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and ready to grow into an Industrial Maintenance Technician role.

Essential Job Functions

  • Perform lubrication tasks across plant equipment according to OEM standards and internal preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Monitor and interpret alarms, oil analysis data, and lubrication system performance.
  • Maintain lubricant inventory and calculate re-lubrication quantities.
  • Operate software and web-based programs for lubrication scheduling and reporting.
  • Assist with contamination control and cleanliness practices for mechanical, hydraulic, and circulating systems.
  • Support the maintenance team with mechanical repairs, inspections, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Follow all safety procedures including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and safe lifting practices.
  • Participate in cross-training efforts to support transition into an Industrial Maintenance Technician role.
  • Read and interpret technical documents such as maintenance manuals, blueprints, and lubrication instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and contribute to a team-oriented work environment.

 

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and desire to develop industrial maintenance skills.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to work in a semi self-directed role within an industrial maintenance department

Training & Certification (Company Provided)

  • 24 hours of lubrication training, with Machinery Lubrication Technician Level I certification within 1 year of hire.
  • Certification to operate lifting equipment (fork truck, hoist, etc.).
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification.
  • Ongoing training to prepare for advancement into Industrial Maintenance Technician role.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to position himself/herself to operate, inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and/or or maintain heavy plant equipment. This may require climbing stairs/ladders, bending, kneeling, crawling, squatting and/or stooping. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and may occasionally lift or move heavier objects with assistance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dusts and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment. The employee must have the ability to understand and mitigate these and other risks, including by following all prescribed safety rules, and must have the ability to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, if necessary.
