Candidates must be a qualified licensed RN or LPN capable of assessing, planning, implementing, instructing and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing assistant.  Responsibilities for this position include teaching of theory and lab/clinical portion of Nursing Assistant classes.  Provide instruction in nursing care skills, and CPR for the Healthcare Provider. The Nursing Assistant Certification (NAC) instructor must be positive, responsive, and a motivational role model for trainees.  

  •  This is a part-time position with a current hourly rate of $60.00; the faculty member can expect to work 120-160 hours per quarter. Candidate must be available to teach all requested hours.

Position Duties

Nursing Assistant Instructor Responsibilities:

  • To provide instruction to students and help promote effective learning;
  • To ensure that course content is consistent with department guidelines;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge/compliance of current state and federal requirements related to nursing assistants;
  • Maintain accurate records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content;
  • Communicate effectively with trainees, fellow team members, supervisor and staff at clinical facility;
  • To meet and maintain, as a condition of employment, the requirements for certification appropriate to the faculty member’s particular field. This may include vocational certification and professional licensing;
  • To be able to assist students with educational planning or direct students to appropriate campus resources;
  • To maintain a standard of honest and ethical behavior in their professional duties;
  • To assume reasonable responsibility for care and safekeeping of College supplies and equipment;
  • Monitor and review skills with students in a clinical setting. Complete student paperwork on skills and interaction with residents.

  • Communicate effectively. This includes conveying information and expectations clearly, listening carefully, encouraging students to communicate, and acting with respect, enthusiasm, and empathy toward students. 
  • Demonstrate personal and professional integrity. This includes, but is not limited to, being professional, honest, and ethical in the selection and delivery of course content. 
  • Assessment. Ability to assess student-learning outcomes and use assessment data to modify instruction.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES

  • Current Washington State license to practice as a registered or licensed practical nurse;
  • Minimum of one year experience within the past three years in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age or both;
  • Minimum of two years of nursing experience, at least one year of which must be in the provision of long-term care facility services.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • American Heart Association BLS Instructor certification;
  • Computer-literate with competence in Microsoft Outlook;
  • One year experience teaching in classroom setting;
  • Must be detailed-orientated and organized.

Other Qualifications
