Job summary – What to Expect:
As a Senior Operator, you will lead a team of operators in completing tasks including running required machinery and processes, allocating workload and resources to meet demand, running tests to ensure compliance, and performing minor equipment maintenance where required. Through this, you will help ensure customer requirements, production performance targets and quality standards are met and when possible exceeded.
You Will Also:
- Ensure departmental service levels are compliant with health and safety, financial controls, SOX and our own organizational requirements.
- Operate relevant machinery and processes where required.
- Manage the picking and shipping of orders for both internal and external customers as needed.
- Receive any new training and train other operators as needed.
- Ensure all workstations are fully operational and left clean and tidy to minimise downtime at shift handover.
- Support team culture through regular interactions, and investigate and respond to any issues within the workforce or with machinery, communicating with the Team Leader where necessary.
- Step in for the Team Leader to cover their duties if required.

About you:
We are looking for someone who:
- Is able to lead a team and build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues
- Has a working knowledge of in-house systems, and a good understanding of relevant equipment
- Able to work with Microsoft Office and HR procedures
- Can identify process waste (TIMWOODS), suggest improvements, participate in CI activities and Kaizen events, and support operators in eliminating process waste and implementing changes
- Is able to communicate relevant information, including work levels and machine and material issues to the Team Leader, as well as other departments and external customers as required.
- Is able to use manual handling equipment (e.g. order pickers, pallet movers) and is multiskilled in operations processes to support other operators.
- Is open to supporting with other areas in operations if necessary
Work Environment:
The working environment is a large open plan warehouse / factory building
All necessary personal protective equipment must be worn along with the use of the correct manual handling equipment and operating techniques.
As well as some lifting, the majority of products are transported throughout the building on movable cages which can also be heavy
Lifting up to approx. 25 kg
Working at heights required
There is constant background noise from the operation of various machinery
Temperatures in the warehouse fluctuate due to seasonal variations
Periods of prolonged standing
Experience:
Required
- Experience of working in an operational environment
- Working understanding of Microsoft Office software
- Basic understanding of equipment relevant to the specified areas, including knowledge of in-house applications (e.g. Oracle)
Preferred
- Experience in manufacturing and/or operating machinery
- Understanding of Lean, continuous improvements and Health and Safety
Education:
Good standard of English and Maths.
