The Construction Estimator plays a key role in BluSky's centralized estimating team. This is a highly collaborative position that will regularly work with all members of the sales and operations team to drive accurate, timely, and competitive construction estimates.
- Review project documentation to determine scope of work.
- Prepare and manage multiple construction estimates at a time in appropriate estimating software.
- Prepare final approved estimating documents.
- Assist with budget creation and occasional cost estimates.
- Lead project kick-off and final review meetings on larger complex construction projects.
- Maintain continuous communication with the project team about estimating status and log status notes weekly.
- Reports to the Chief Estimator with technical questions regarding projects.
- This role has no direct reports.
- 3+ years of experience in construction estimating.
- Expert in both Xactimate and Claims Estimate (Symbility) software is required.
- General understanding of XactAnalysis and Claims Workspace.
- Solid understanding of construction methods and best practices.
- Have a general understanding of building and engineering plans.
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, and Word primarily).
- Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and conscientious.
- Self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and multitask while maintaining focus on achieving deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience preferred.
- Occasional travel. (Less than 25% of the time.) Some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected for training or meetings.
