ABOUT THE ROLE

Seneca’s School Partnership Programs are hiring for a Attendance Case Manager to grades 9-12th  to success at Alliance Cindy & Bill Simon Technology Academy High School in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. As an Attendance Case Manager, you will implement a promising new strategy for reducing chronic absenteeism that utilizes a family-focused, peer support model to increase student engagement and achievement. As an Attendance Case Manager, you will spend time both on and off campus, connecting with families and organizations in the community, which positively impacts students and families and helps them access resources and opportunities that enrich their lives.

Seneca’s LA CrUE Program partners with district and charter schools across the Los Angeles region to provide a range of services from our agency’s Unconditional Education (UE) model. Our model empowers schools in developing trauma-informed and healing-centered multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS). Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively within a transdisciplinary team, including teachers, counselors, specialists, and program leadership
  • Build therapeutic relationships that help students engage and achieve personalized goals
  • Develop collaborative relationships with students and families, co-creating action plans tailored to each student and family.
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with each student on the caseload to provide support, encouragement, and accountability
  • Provide additional support and accountability to families and students between meetings for completion of action steps
  • Communicate effectively with families and all others involved in the daily life of the student, including other Seneca programs or outside agencies
  • Complete required data collection and service documentation to measure the effectiveness of services, inform team decision making, and/or engage in service billing

 

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree OR  
    • Associate degree + 1 year of applicable experience OR 
    • High school diploma/GED + 2 years of applicable experience
    • Required prior experience in working with students who exhibit challenging behaviors. This also includes experience supporting caregivers
    • Applicable experience is defined as experience working with children who exhibit extremely challenging behaviors or providing support/coaching to caregivers
    • Preferred lived experience, either personal or as a caregiver, with relevant systems (e.g., child welfare, juvenile justice, mental health, special education, immigration, truancy, etc.)
  • Own Vehicle, Valid California Driver's License
  • At least 21 years of age
  • TB test clearance, fingerprinting clearance, and any other state/federal licensing or certification requirements

 

Schedule

  • School based schedule:
    • Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM - 4 PM (occasionally may need to flex time and hold a meeting during an evening time slot)
  • In person services required
    • Possibility of 1-2 remote days a month
  • 5 weeks of paid time off, 11 paid holidays, and 14 paid school break days

    • Actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications
