Role Summary:
The Mortgage Analyst will conduct preliminary review of loan applications, perform due diligence, budget and credit review, and finalize the detailed underwriting necessary for the approval, closing or conversion of loans. They will work with the loan’s stakeholders to identify steps necessary for closing or conversion, and to monitor actions undertaken by all parties to ensure progress. The Mortgage Analyst works closely with the Mortgage Officer(s) and Assistant Mortgage Officer(s) and communicates Field Office priorities to the Portfolio Services Division.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform market research for mortgage offerings and assist Mortgage Officer(s) with writing loan narratives.
- Assist Mortgage Officers with initial and final underwriting for Freddie Mac submissions and Mortgage Committee Approvals, closing and/or conversion.
- Work with Mortgage Officer(s) and Chief Credit Officer to resolve disparities between approvals and supporting documents and reports.
- Act as liaison between borrower, Mortgage Officer and subsidy provider(s) to ensure final underwriting reflects current conditions and the priorities of all stakeholders.
- Determine agenda and actions steps for closing or converting a loan – monitor progress towards closing or conversion.
- Work closely with the Assistant Mortgage Officer(s) to ensure closing packages contain accurate and consistent information.
- Conduct field inspections of construction and renovation projects being carried out with CPC financing.
- As part of due-diligence on new loans, conduct field inspections of borrower and contractor.
- Perform credit and reference checks on borrowers and contractors.
- Assist Mortgage Officer(s) with review of borrower and property financial statements.
- Assist as needed with loan servicing issues. Follow up with borrowers and Portfolio Services division to resolve problems.
- Assist as needed with delinquent loans and REO property dispositions.
- Perform other administrative duties, as required.
Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Real Estate Finance / Development, Urban Planning / Policy, Affordable Housing, Community Development, or similar discipline preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in related field preferred; candidates with direct experience in affordable housing finance will be considered.
- Familiarity with underwriting for subsidized residential development.
- Superior communication skills and ability to organize and run meetings / conference calls with borrowers and subsidy providers.
- The ability to successfully work with others as a team, including listening, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Word and Excel.

This is a hybrid role where you will work from the Chappaqua office two – three days a week. The salary range is $80,000 – $90,000, dependent on experience.
