Job Details
This work involves helping individuals prepare for employment by offering job training, skill building opportunities, interview preparation, and overall support to develop the skills needed to thrive in today’s workforce.
You will join a small team of dedicated colleagues working to bring essential workforce and career development resources to local communities. The “Library2Go” program is still being developed. Your creativity, ideas, and initiative will help shape its success. Ideal candidates are self-starters, adaptable, and excited to grow a program from start to finish.
Important Information:

Funding: Grant-funded through February 2027, with the potential to transition from contractor to employee based on budgetary allowances.

Driving Responsibility: Operate the Mobile Library unit (bus-sized). Defensive driving training provided.

CDL Requirements: A CDL is not required, but candidates who hold one and meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply.

Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:3am – 5pm, with occasional evening and weekend hours for outreach and program events. Staffing these events is mandatory due to high demand. Evening and weekend hours will be adjusted from your weekday schedule to maintain a 40-hour work week.

Benefits: Paid holidays, up to 12 personal days per year, Maryland Earned Sick and Safe Leave, optional enrollment in medical, dental, vision, and/or prescription health plans.

Participate in daily operations and activities of the Mobile Library.

Provide library services, including reference assistance, reader’s advisory, circulation, technology support, and instruction on using the library catalog, databases, and digital resources.

Plan and deliver in-person programs that combine library content with workforce and career development initiatives.

Assist community members with job readiness, skill-building, and interview preparation.

Promote the Mobile Library and its collections throughout local communities.

Conduct outreach to schools, colleges, agencies, and workforce organizations to expand program reach.

Maintain and grow the library collection through weeding, recommending replacements, and identifying areas for expansion.

Safely operate the Mobile Library during outreach events and program activities.

Serve as the person-in-charge when needed, ensuring the safety of staff, community members and customers.

Collaborate with team members to evaluate program outcomes and adjust strategies to meet library and workforce goals.

Maintain accurate records and reports, including data entry and documentation for internal use and funding requirements.

Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree required.
-
One to three (1-3) years of experience in a library or related setting.

Workforce or career development experience is strongly preferred. Certified Career Services Provider credential preferred or completion within one year.

Knowledge of literature, reference materials, periodicals, and publishers preferred.

Familiarity with library reference tools, web searching, and electronic databases.

Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Office, email, smartphones/tablets, and other office technology.

Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Bilingual in English and an additional language preferred.

Highly organized with strong multitasking and time-management skills.

Valid driver’s license with a clean record; willingness to travel approximately 75% of the time within the County.
