Position Summary:
The Development Generalist contributes to philanthropic activities that advance the mission of the Flint & Genesee Group.
Reporting to the Director of Grants & Development, the Development Generalist is responsible for supporting key fundraising functions including developing grant proposals and reports, researching new grant opportunities, donor communications, and stewardship. The Development Generalist is also responsible for supporting data management, collection and reporting of metrics, and community engagement activities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate philanthropic activities for all divisions and teams at the Flint & Genesee Group.
2. Assist in the development of grant proposals and grant applications.
3. Collect data and participate in programming site visits to support the development of grant reports.
4. Prepare reports that demonstrate the impact of programming to funders, partners, and other stakeholders.
5. Research new grants and other funding opportunities and submit eligibility requests or letters of intent in accordance with funder guidelines.
6. Coordinate the intake and execution of letters of support and other requests from community partners.
7. Support the Economic Development Grants and Data Manager in collecting and reporting organizational, enterprise, and Forward Together metrics.
8. Maintain complete and accurate records of philanthropic and engagement activities.
9. Foster clear, professional communication with both internal colleagues and external partners.
10. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Grants & Development.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in a nonprofit, fundraising, or administrative role.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people including but not limited to funders, business clients, board members, Chamber members, community partners, and FGG staff.
- Ability to adhere to priorities, meet multiple deadlines, and effectively present and explain complex information.
- Demonstrates strong attention to detail and consistently produces accurate work.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with donor databases is preferred.
