Lead Software Engineer – Supply Chain Platform

Join the Revolution at Maersk!

At Maersk, we are on a transformative journey to reshape the future of global logistics with our Integrator 2030 vision. The Supply Chain Platform is at the core of this vision and is an enterprise-wide priority. It aims to unlock visibility across the entire supply chain (from factory to couch) for all Maersk customers — truly integrating logistics and giving customers the control, reliability, and predictability they need.

The Opportunity

Maersk is hiring a Lead Software Engineer who will report into the Senior Engineering Director for the Supply Chain Platform and help drive the technology vision forward. The platform is responsible for answering the critical questions “Where is my shipment?” and “When will I get it?” with high accuracy and timeliness. This involves working with massive data streams from multiple sources, surfacing the right insights, and helping our customers keep their supply chains efficient and resilient.

About the Role

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building the foundations of an exciting greenfield platform. Key responsibilities include:

  • Defining event and API schemas in collaboration with data providers and consumers.

  • Partnering with product owners to translate customer problems into scalable, working software solutions.

  • Ensuring application architecture and data flows are secure by design; actively participating in architecture guilds.

  • Breaking down ambiguous high-level requirements into actionable tasks for engineers.

  • Making sound technology choices, introducing new tools thoughtfully, and guiding the team along.

  • Driving engineering best practices such as clean code, test automation, and performance checks.

  • Embedding observability by ensuring applications emit standard monitoring signals.

  • Owning applications end-to-end, from build to production, while promoting a DevOps mindset.

  • Leading by example in code reviews and fostering peer learning.

  • Driving continuous delivery practices — ensuring every change can reach production safely and quickly.

  • Creating inclusive practices to enable collaboration across geographies, cultures, and time zones.

About You

We’re looking for someone who brings both technical excellence and collaborative leadership. You should have:

  • Strong expertise in the JVM ecosystem with 5+ years in Java or Kotlin.

  • Hands-on experience with containerized 12-factor apps, Docker, and Kubernetes.

  • Proven skills in building event-driven applications (Kafka or similar).

  • Familiarity with serialization systems such as Avro or Protobuf.

  • Experience with both relational and NoSQL databases.

  • Strong knowledge of observability practices (logging, metrics, traces, alerts).

  • Cloud computing experience in Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS (Terraform knowledge is a plus).

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.

  • (Bonus) Experience with real-time data processing at scale.

  • (Bonus) Knowledge of logistics and supply chain domains.

Why Join Us?

Be part of something extraordinary at Maersk. The Supply Chain Platform is at the heart of our digital transformation, and you’ll be building technology that directly impacts how the world’s trade flows.
