The Opportunity with McKinstry

We are currently seeking a Structural Project Engineer III to join our dynamic team as a member of our growing engineering and design division in Seattle. The Structural Project Engineer will be responsible for design documents with a level of quality that leads to minimum amounts of clarifications during construction. The Structural Project Engineer III must possess the ability to work with multidiscipline engineering and construction teams and coordinate with other trades in design and construction. Additional responsibilities include:

  • Proficiency in structural systems design for new and existing buildings for both gravity and lateral systems and multi-discipline coordination.

  • Performs and coaches others in engineering calculation and design tasks.

  • Produces or directs production of design drawings and formal sketches for construction.

  • Pursues an understanding of the technical foundation of design activities and decisions.

  • Performs coordination with internal and external team members.

  • Identifies opportunities for process and technology improvements.

  • Develops options for design direction, system selection and cost saving strategies.

 

What You Need to Succeed at McKinstry

  • Must have demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Project Engineer III.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required from ABET accredited University. EIT certification is required.

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit/Tekla modelling preferred.

  • Familiarity with MATLAB, VBA, Python and structural analysis software (Bentley platform, RISA or SAP 2000) software tools preferred.

  • Five (5) years of experience in engineering design. Onsite construction experience considered and welcome.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and MS Teams required.

  • Engineering in Training Certificate required.

  • PE required for Project Engineer III.

The pay range for this position is $42.40 – $68.27 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
