Under the direction of the Assistant Manager and the Skating Director, the Skating Academy Instructor Level II instructs participants in “Learn to Skate” programs.

Position open only to current candidates assigned by Skating Director.

The expected starting pay is $15.00 per hour. (The 2025 salary range for this position is $15.00 to $19.00 per hour).
Eligible for Earned Sick and Safe Time upon qualification for benefit.

Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Assistant Manager and the Skating Director, the Skating Academy Instructor Level II instructs participants in “Learn to Skate” programs.

 Essential Functions

  1. Assists in the instruction of the Learn to Skate program.
    1. Teaches the Learn to Skate classes as required.
    2. Tracks students attendance and progress.
    3. Assists in controlling the students both on and off the ice.
    4. Establishes and maintains good relationships with the public.
    5. Maintains punctuality in arriving and departing at schedule times.
    6. Assists in annual ice show as assigned.
    7. Following class criteria, instructs students according to their appropriate ability level.
  2. Performs other essential job duties.
    1. Regular and timely work attendance.
    2. Follows all safety procedures and participates in safety training.
    3. Provides a safe and fun learning environment.
    4. Follows the policies and procedures of the ice arena.

 Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of basic ice skating skills.
  • Ability to teach USFS Snow Plow Sam through Basic 5.
  • Ability to be in skates and on the ice for a minimum of 3 hours.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of experience teaching in a group setting.
  • Past participation in group lessons in an established school, club or apprenticeship program.
  • Experience with performance in and/or production of an ice show or equivalent.
