Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Water practice is seeking a Chemical Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our high-performing team. This entry-level role offers the chance to contribute to a wide range of infrastructure projects, from small-scale upgrades to large, transformative systems. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you’ll gain hands-on experience in water and wastewater process design, fieldwork, and project coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project teams with technical documentation, reporting, and research
- Develop process calculations using spreadsheets and modeling tools
- Create engineering deliverables such as:
- Process flow diagrams
- Heat and mass balances
- Piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Hydraulic calculations
- Process data sheets and performance specifications
- Draft reports summarizing findings and engineering recommendations
- Assist with project permitting and regulatory documentation
- Participate in site inspections, construction observations, and commissioning activities
- Attend project meetings and contribute to meeting minutes and coordination
- Ensure tasks are completed on time and within scope and budget
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Proficiency in process modeling software (e.g., ChemCAD, AspenTech, AutoCAD)
- Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering
Typical office environment working with computers and working at a desk for most of the day. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
