Role: Position has responsibility for supervising, coordinating, and performing all aspects of the spa ritual rooms, spa front desk, and spa boutique; to perform job responsibilities satisfactorily and to according to department standards.   Adheres to all Company, Safety and Department policies and procedures.  Fosters team work and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations.  Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

MAJOR JOB DUTIES:  Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Assists the Spa Manager in managing the day-to-day operations of the spa.
  • Assumes the responsibilities of the Spa Manager in his/her absence.
  • Ensures all associates have the proper supplies, equipment and uniforms.
  • Helps to ensures all spa equipment is in good condition and receives regular maintenance, e.g., fitness equipment, sauna, steam room, hot & cold plunges, hydrotherapy pool, steamers, electronic massage and facial tables, soaking tubs, pedicure chairs, magnifying mirrors, towel cabbies, nail dryers, UV sterilizers, etc.
  • Maintains cleanliness of spa and related areas and equipment.
  • Ensures the spa areas are safe and secure for both guests and associates.
  • Understands and complies with all loss prevention policies and procedures.
  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.
  • Interacts with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels; effectively responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.
  • Empowers associates to provide excellent customer service.  Ensures associates understand expectations and parameters.
  • Observes service behaviors of associates and provides feedback to individuals; continuously strives to improve service performance.
  • Uses all available on the job training tools for associates; supervises on-going training initiatives and conducts training when appropriate.
  • Ensures that regular on-going communication is happening with associates to create awareness of business objectives and communicates expectations, recognizes performance, and produces desired results.
  • Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members; ensures associate recognition is taking place on all shifts.  Participates in an on-going associate recognition program. 
  • Adjusts staffing and services to meet customer demand and budget expectations.
  • Schedules according to business demands and assists Spa Manager for tracking of associate time and attendance.
  • Helps to ensure cash control policies are in place and followed by all spa team members.
  • Each associate is expected to carry out, within their capabilities, all reasonable requests by management.

Work is performed in a spa and salon environment and in other locations throughout the property.  Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.  When on the casino floor, the noise level increases to loud.   A casino environment typically allows smoking.

  • Interacts with management, applicants, fellow Associates and/or guests.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and coworkers
  • Requires prolonged sitting or standing and mobility.  
  • Requires bending and reaching. 
  • Requires transporting, pushing, pulling, and maneuvering items weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Requires lifting items weighing up to 25 lbs.

  • Requires eye/hand coordination.  
  • Requires use of standard office equipment.
