A growing general contracting / construction management firm in Ossining, NY, is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join their team full time. This role supports all aspects of project delivery, planning, coordinating, budget and schedule maintenance, stakeholder communication, and execution on site, while offering major exposure to municipal work and high visibility projects.
What You’ll Do as the Assistant Project Manager:
- Help manage and coordinate construction trades and subcontractors, ensuring work aligns with plans, specifications, and approved submittals
- Maintain project schedules (master schedule, six week look ahead, etc.), track long lead items, and distribute schedules to trades/vendors
- Assist in cost tracking, reviewing subcontractor/vendor change orders, and preparing owner & subcontractor change orders
- Oversee document management: maintain current plans/specs, process RFIs, submittals, sketches, revisions, and quality control checklists
- Support the Project Manager in conducting regular meetings (owner, trade, internal), coordinating deliveries, reviewing invoices/requisitions, and site logistics
- Assist with project close out: gather warranties, operation & maintenance manuals, as builts, attic stock, ensure punch lists are addressed
Must Haves as the Assistant Project Manager:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture / Engineering, Business Management, or a closely related field OR ~5 years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook; able to use or learn MS Project, Procore, Bluebeam (or similar tools)
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to coordinate multiple moving parts and deadlines
- Excellent communication skills (with trades, vendors, clients, design teams)
- Ability to oversee document control and maintain compliance with standards (internal controls, safety, etc.)
Nice to Haves:
- Prior experience in municipal / permitting processes
- Familiarity with construction close out documentation (as builts, warranties, attic stock)
- Previous work with large scale general contracting or multi trade projects
- Experience using or managing site safety programs, site access protocols
