This role is critical in driving mechanical integrity initiatives, supporting preventative maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with regulatory codes and company standards.

This position blends hands-on inspection responsibilities with engineering design, analysis, and problem-solving to improve equipment performance and longevity. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of experience in a similar industrial environment and brings deep knowledge of pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks, piping systems, and associated codes and standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage mechanical integrity programs for fixed equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, tanks, piping, heat exchangers).
  • Provide engineering expertise to support inspection findings, failure analysis, and equipment upgrades or repairs.
  • Conduct a root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions to address failures or degradation in fixed equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards such as ASME, API (510, 570, 653), and NBIC.
  • Prepare engineering documentation, calculations, and specifications for repairs, replacements, and new installations.
  • Collaborate with inspection personnel, maintenance, operations, and project teams to identify and prioritize equipment issues.
  • Support turnaround planning and execution for fixed equipment inspection and repair scopes.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment history, drawings, specifications, and inspection reports.
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • 5–10 years of relevant experience in a chemical, refining, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of fixed equipment design, operation, degradation mechanisms, and failure modes.
  • Working knowledge of API 510, 570, and 653 standards; certification(s) preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with applicable mechanical integrity and inspection software systems (e.g., PCMS, Meridium) is a plus.
  • Experience working in or supporting PSM-regulated facilities preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
