Asphalt Green is looking to hire an experienced Membership Sales and Fitness Manager for The Major Owens Community Center, (MOCC) located in Brooklyn's vibrant Crown Heights neighborhood (see https://majorowenscenter.com/ for more information). The manager will be responsible for the fitness center and membership sales departments’ daily operations. This role requires fitness industry experience along with motivation and energy. Qualified candidates must have a history of selling skills as they will be expected to drive membership growth and retention while meeting sales targets.
In addition to overseeing all aspects of membership sales and fitness services, this role will supervise one (1) Membership Advisor, ensuring they meet the department's sales goals while maintaining high-quality experiences for members. The role reports to the Managing Director of Asphalt Green at MOCC.
NOTE: This is an on-site role. There are no remote work options.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains clear and open communication with the Managing Director and other department heads working collaboratively to ensure the success of Asphalt Green at MOCC.
- Oversees sales establishing goals and driving growth for both facility membership and the fitness center’s business.
- Manages the day to day functions of both areas (Membership Sales and Fitness) as well as the Membership Advisor, providing direction and support.
- Ensures that the Fitness Center is fully functional, clean, safe and appropriately staffed and that all equipment is in good working order. The Fitness Center offers solo and group personal training and features current equipment, free weights and cardio, along with top of the line functional strength equipment.
- Establishes, maintains and reports performance metrics (on Salesforce) for both functions while devising and implementing strategies for improvement.
- Organizes frequent team meetings and performs daily check-ins to keep staff knowledgeable about MOCC happenings
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 -3 years of experience in membership sales and/ or fitness management along with related administrative knowledge required. Computer literacy a must including familiarity with MicroSoft Office 356, EZFacility, Mindbody and Salesforce.
- Strong sales background and customer service experience also required (sales, health and wellness, retail, restaurant, fitness).
- Experience onboarding, training, coaching, and developing high-performing teams a plus.
- Genuine passion for fitness, health and wellness with an ability to engage and motivate the community.
- Positive communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a customer-focused mindset.
- CPR certification or a willingness to acquire CPR certification within 30 days of employment
