Job Description
This position exists to provide end user support to technology for students, faculty, staff, and administration at one of the five Minnesota West Community and Technical College campuses through maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and installation of individual workstations and lab computers, printers, software, and peripherals. The position coordinates the Jackson campus IT services by managing the response to technical, hardware, and software problems and requests. This position will also assist in the installation, support, and training of classroom, meeting room, and event space technology, along with maintenance and support of user accounts. This role will also help administer the ticketing system software used for IT help requests, as well as selecting and implementing academic technology solutions to maximize student learning.
Principle Responsibilities:
1. Provide end user technology support for students, faculty, staff, and administrators.
- Assist with the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computers, printers, and other computer related hardware/software.
- Assist campus faculty and staff in solving software problems using Windows, Office 365, Zoom, Student Record Systems, and other supported applications.
- Assist in the configuration of computers, printers, and other devices to the LAN and WiFi networks.
- Assist with employee and student account and access issues.
- Recommend and assist in the purchasing of end user technology solutions.
- Perform hardware repairs to end user technology or coordinate with vendors to complete repairs.
- Check online work order system, voice mail, and email systems regularly.
2. Support new technology in the classrooms and meeting rooms and provide event technology support.
- Ensure technology is operational and maintained.
- Respond to support calls to ensure classes and meetings have limited disruption.
- Assist with events needing technology support.
- Work with other IT staff on installing technology in classrooms and meeting rooms.
- Work with vendors to deploy classroom and meeting technology.
3. Develop documentation and provide end user training on technologies at Minnesota West Community and Technical College.
- Create documentation related to end user technology.
- Provide training and orientation to the use of classroom, meeting room, and end user technology.
- Review documentation regularly to ensure it is up to date with current college technology.
- Set up new users and provide support for end users.
- Assist with/set up new servers if needed.
4. Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of IT operations and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner and to support the college and Minnesota State missions.
- Support college days and activities such as the Athletics, Staff Development Conference, and college-wide CTL and administrative days
- Support outside organizations utilizing campus facilities.
Salary Range:
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of IT experience providing end user technology installation and support.
- Experience in basic computer installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Office 365, Zoom, and related software.
- Experience integrating computers with multimedia technology.
- Base-level understanding of networking infrastructure.
- Experience creating end user documentation in various forms such as digital documents, email, brochures, and handouts.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associates degree or higher in Computer Science, Networking, or similar discipline.
- Experience providing technology support in a Higher Education Institution
- Experience supporting technology in a hybrid environment.
- Experience supporting Zoom rooms.
