Counseling and Psychological Services:
At Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), our mission is dedicated to reducing the impact of mental health and phase of life challenges, while supporting students in navigating personal and academic demands, strengthening resiliency, and enhancing overall wellness and academic success by providing free, high-quality, trauma-informed mental health services to UCF students.
CAPS offers clinical services, as well as outreach and prevention programs, in a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where student access is a priority. Our multidisciplinary team includes licensed and license-eligible psychologists, mental health counselors, clinical social workers, and graduate-level trainees.
The Opportunity:
UCF's Counseling and Psychological Services department is hiring an Assistant Director of Prevention, Outreach and Social Media. UCF CAPS is a large dynamic multi-disciplinary counseling center serving the UCF students campus both individually and through telehealth services. This position is responsible to the Director, University Counseling Center, or appropriate administrators. Can function for Director in their absence, as required or needed. May be delegated responsibility for the overall direction and management of a specific functional area. Responsible for assisting in the visioning, development and implementation of university mental health outreach and prevention for students.
Responsibilities:
Development and implementation of the prevention and outreach domain (which includes social media and peer education programs) as well as supporting clinical and training domains.
Supervising and evaluating a professional staff portfolio
Planning and implementing mental health outreach, prevention, and literacy programs on UCF campus as well as creating and implementing annual budget for such events.
Conducting psychological interviews and sessions with university students when psychological counseling and evaluation is indicated.
Supervising therapist-in-training in Psychology and Mental Health Counseling.
Coordinating and conducting program evaluation and research projects for institutional effectiveness plan, especially in the outreach and prevention area.
Serving as a consultant to university faculty and staff, particularly those individuals who are working in a counseling or advising capacity with students.
Performs related duties as required or deemed appropriate to accomplish the responsibilities and functions of the counseling center.
Minimum Qualifications:
A doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA (American Psychological Association) accredited college or university, completion of an APA-accredited internship or closely related field and have equivalent internship, and have a minimum of 2 years of counseling center or related experience; or a master’s degree in clinical psychology, mental health counseling, social work, or marriage and family therapy at an accredited college or university with a supervised internship experience; and have a minimum of 4 years of counseling center or related experience. Must possess a current clinical license in their current state jurisdiction of practice. Must be license eligible in Florida at time of hire, licensed by the State of Florida within 6 months of hire date, and must maintain license.
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years of experience working as a licensed clinician in the mental health field.
Experience in leading or coordinating administrative functions.
Experience applying visionary, systems-level thinking to areas such as prevention, outreach (including social media and peer education), campus crisis response, or the development of Center policies and procedures.
Experience in clinical and administrative supervision of staff.
Proficiency with program evaluation, analysis of data trends and outcomes, and ability to transfer into report and graphs.
Experience in managing, organizing, and marketing events and budgets.
Strong report writing skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively.
Proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Titanium, and/or social or multimedia platforms.
The most successful candidates may possess the following qualities:
Team oriented with an ability to work within a large center system and administrative structure.
Professional demeanor, comfortable presenting programs to large audiences and speaking to the media.
