The Senior Manager of Global Facilities oversees the efficient, cost-effective, and reliable operation of the company’s facilities worldwide, supporting manufacturing, distribution, product development & engineering, and office locations. This role is responsible for facility maintenance, lease administration, space planning, capital project execution, mailroom and shipping/receiving services, security programs, and vendor management.
Working closely with regional leaders, facilities managers, technicians, security personnel, shipping & receiving personnel, and external service providers, the Sr. Manager, Global Facilities ensures that facilities are well-maintained, operational business needs are met, and employees have a safe, functional, and professional work environment that reflects the company’s brand and culture.
As Life Fitness / Hammer Strength's Sr. Manager, Global Facilities, you will:
Leadership
- Provide comprehensive leadership and ensure alignment with the long-term strategy and operational planning for global facilities across multiple dimensions via:
- Direct management of facilities, mailroom, security, shipping & receiving staff for the Rosemont and Schaumburg, IL locations
- Indirect oversight and support through dotted line reporting of plant facilities management staff
- Cross-functional partnership with regional leaders and plant managers, as well as with EH&S, HR, Finance, Sourcing, and Legal functional leaders
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee daily facility operations globally, including maintenance, repairs, janitorial services, and equipment servicing
- Work with local facilities personnel to implement where necessary and manage preventive maintenance programs to ensure facility systems remain operational and efficient
- Coordinate with site leaders to address facility needs in manufacturing plants, warehouses, product development & engineering centers, and offices
Capital Project Execution
- Working with local facilities personnel to support planning, management, and delivery of facility renovation, expansion, relocation, and infrastructure upgrade projects to ensure these are on time and within budget
- Oversee contractor selection, bidding, and performance for capital projects
- Ensure project compliance with applicable building codes, permitting requirements, and company standards
Lease Administration & Real Estate
- Manage global real estate portfolio, including lease negotiations, renewals, compliance, and documentation
- Maintain accurate lease records and ensure timely action on critical dates and obligations
- Support site selection and facility acquisition/disposition activities
Mail Room Shipping & Receiving
- For all non-manufacturing locations, oversee mailroom activities and ensure timely, accurate processing of both inbound and outbound mail and packages
- Manage relationships with carriers and service providers for domestic and international shipments not associated with shipping/receiving in the plants
- For the Rosemont, IL location, directly manage internal cross-functional upstream and downstream activities pertaining to the inbound and outbound scheduling, transportation, delivery, and installation of product
- For all other office locations, such as Schaumburg, IL and international sales offices, oversee the internal cross-functional upstream and downstream activities pertaining to the inbound and outbound scheduling, transportation, delivery, and installation of product
Security & Access Control
- Oversee the global physical security systems and protocols, including access control, visitor management, and alarm/CCTV systems
- Coordinate with site leaders and vendors to maintain security readiness and adherence to company standards, including maintaining a network of local private security contractors for staff augmentation on an as-needed basis
Office Supply Program
- Partner with Sourcing to manage company-wide office supply program, including vendor selection, ordering processes, and budget control
- Ensure cost-effective purchasing practices and adequate stock levels to meet operational needs
- Standardize supply offerings and processes across global offices to ensure efficiency and consistency
Space Planning & Moves
- Partner with local team to plan and coordinate workspace layouts, seating assignments, and moves/adds/changes for offices and other facilities
- Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure workspaces are functional and ready for occupancy
Vendor & Contract Management
- Partner with local team to select, negotiate, and manage contracts for maintenance, construction, security, janitorial, office supplies, and other facility services
- Monitor vendor performance to ensure service quality and adherence to agreements
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements
Budgeting & Reporting
- Partner with local leadership to develop and manage annual facility operating and capital budgets
- Track expenditures, forecast needs, and report performance metrics to senior leadership
- Maintain accurate facility records, floor plans, and asset inventories
What Life Fitness / Hammer Strength is looking for in our Sr. Manager, Global Facilities:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field preferred
- 7+ years of experience managing facilities, real estate, or corporate services in a multi-site, global environment
- Experience managing capital projects, including renovations, relocations, and infrastructure upgrades
- Strong track record in lease administration, vendor management, and space planning
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of building systems, preventive maintenance, and capital project execution
- Experience negotiating leases and managing real estate portfolios
- Knowledge of mailroom, office supply, and shipping/receiving best practices
- Proven vendor management and negotiation skills
- Proficiency in facilities management software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and project management capabilities
- High analytical adeptness, including advanced Excel proficiency (PivotTables, complex formulas, etc.) to analyze data, identify trends, and deliver actionable insights to solve problems and/or make business decisions
Work Environment & Travel
- Role is based out of Rosemont, IL with regular presence in global facilities
- Domestic and international travel required (up to 40%)
