Buyer II
Our Buyers are responsible for the purchasing of products and component parts for use in manufacturing and sales to our end customers. Items will be purchased from overseas and domestic suppliers.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise of steel commodities, related steel products and other commodities as assigned related to overall spend and negotiation
- Execute reporting surrounding purchasing execution related to budgetary requirements
- Oversee projects impacting purchasing processes and functions
- Ensure suppliers are performing at an acceptable level
- Build relationship with suppliers that secure the best price, service, quality and delivery options on all potential purchases
- Quote new items within the commodity group
- Oversee the process of acquiring goods and services by asking for tenders, consult with suppliers and review price quotations
- Set contract terms and conditions and awarding contracts to specific vendors
- Release and maintain inventory items within the Buy/Sell group by setting delivery schedules, track progress and contact clients and suppliers to correct problems
- Advise production scheduler, sales and shipping/receiving manager of delivery dates and any changes
- Supply required components to overseas vendors if specified components are not available in source country
- Reconcile missing or damaged product where applicable
- Manage supplier requested changes, internal design changes and changes for cost savings
- Perform all other duties as assigned
- Resolve purchasing supply chain issues.
- Identify and communicate changes /shifts in the market which could impact lead times, costs, availability, quality, etc.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities as needed.
- Provide training to other purchasing resources as needed.
Qualifications
- Work Experience: 5 years of experience in Purchasing field
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Business
- Computer Skills: Microsoft Office and MRP, etc.
Preferred Education and Experienc:
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management
- Work Experience: 7 years of experience in related field with International Business desired
- Computer Skills: MAPICS and MRP experience
- ASCM: CPIM Certification
Travel
Travel dependent on the needs of the position.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
