Until filled Additional Information: Show/Hide - Performs basic to semi-skilled craft-mechanical air conditioning, water treatment, or refrigeration systems work in various repair, maintenance and service tasks for the school district.
- Assists with and/or maintains or services air conditioning, water treatment or refrigeration components, controls and systems for the district, as applicable to the assigned functional area.
- Services or replaces components including, but not limited to, screens, filters, switches, controllers, sensors, lines, pressure gauges, valves.
- Tests water samples for accurate levels of various chemicals and agents, when assigned to water treatment systems; sets and adjusts chemical feeds, flow rates, and pump controls accordingly.
- Sets, adjusts, and/or calibrates equipment components, such as conductivity controller sensors and scales.
- Performs preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules; monitors systems functioning for the purpose of recognizing potential problems; addresses such accordingly.
- Ensures compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building, and safety standards regarding air conditioning and water treatment service and repair activities.
- Functions independently within scope of abilities, as assigned, or assists more knowledgeable and skilled technicians in more complex/difficult repairs and installations.
- Fills out and maintains work orders and purchase orders for required materials, supplies and equipment; maintains daily activity logs and associated data records concerning the assigned air conditioning or water treatment system(s).
- Performs necessary calculations in setting and adjustment of controls, setting feed and flow rates, measuring conductivity, and measuring pipe dimensions, line layout, angles and distances.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles utilized; ensures adherence to principles and practices of safe equipment use and operation.
- Responds to emergency or critical incidents in order to confine, resolve, and/or prevent environmentally hazardous conditions.
- Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by Warren. With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.

- Performs skilled to advanced craft-mechanical plumbing work in various installation, repair, maintenance and service tasks for the school district.
- Installs, maintains, services, and/or repairs plumbing fixtures and apparatus for the district, i.e., water coolers, lavatory and kitchen fixtures and systems, water and wastewater lines, lift stations and treatment plants, portable classroom hook-ups, new construction.
- Services or replaces components including, but not limited to, valves, switches, pumps, traps, hose bibs, backflow devices, screens, and lines.
- Ensures compliance with and adherence to applicable codes, ordinances, building, and safety standards regarding plumbing installation, service, and repair activities.
- Receives work orders, prioritizes assignments, and coordinates equipment, tools, materials, and supplies required per job site.
- Works collaboratively and confers with contractor service providers, as applicable to assigned work orders.
- Fills out and maintains work orders and purchase orders for required materials, supplies and equipment; maintains daily activity logs, and maintenance records concerning assigned service vehicles and equipment.
- Performs necessary calculations in preparing materials and work sites for installation, maintenance or repair, i.e., pipe dimensions, line layout, ditch and line grading, angles and distances.
- Operates various manual, electrical, and gas-powered equipment and tools in performing assigned tasks, i.e., line cleaners, jack hammers, pipe threaders, concrete saws, back hoes, drills, pipe wrenches.
- Performs cleaning and maintenance of equipment, tools, materials, and vehicles utilized per work site; ensures adherence to principles and practices of safe equipment use and operation.
- Coordinates assigned work orders in a manner to minimize disruption in routine district activities, to include planning complex and long term projects during non-operating hours and vacation schedules.
- Responds to emergency or critical incidents in order to confine, resolve, and/or prevent flooding or other hazardous conditions.
- Responsible for keeping up to date on current technology, as job appropriate, being used by the district.
- With the support of the district, attends training to ensure skill level in various technologies is at the level required to perform in current position.
- Performs semi-skilled to skilled electronics work in various electronics technology installation, repair, maintenance, and service tasks for the school district.
- Installs, maintains, services, and/or repairs electronic equipment and systems for the district, i.e., Fire Alarm Systems, Sprinkler Systems, Chemical Suppression Systems, PA Systems, Intercom Systems, Two-way Radio Communication Systems, Keyless Entry, Scoring Systems (for athletics), and Elevator and Wheelchair Lifts.
- Mechanical aptitude for Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or the ability to learn the components and structure of CMMS.
- Reads, interprets, and maintains a library of blueprints, O & M Manuals, Technical Manuals, and Electronic and Technical schematics for effecting equipment repairs in print and electronic format.
- Provides on-site diagnostic installation and repair service; determines service needs requiring off-site service or repair; determines economic feasibility of service or replacement; provides documentation supporting recommendations.
- Conducts in-shop diagnostic testing to identify and isolate problems and performs appropriate corrective repairs. Conducts quality controls to ensure repairs are corrective.
- Fills out and maintains work orders and purchase orders for required materials, supplies, and equipment; maintains daily activity logs, maintenance records concerning job costing, materials, and labor estimates, and charge-backs where appropriate.
- Coordinates assigned work orders in a manner that minimizes disruption in routine district activities.
- Responds to emergency or critical incidents to confine, resolve, and/or prevent disruption in district activities or hazardous conditions.

JOB TITLE: General Maintenance Technician
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-exempt, hourly employee.
WORK DAYS: 261 (including paid holidays and paid vacation time).
STANDARD HOURS PER DAY: 8 hours per day (not including a 60-minute unpaid duty-free meal break).
WORK YEAR: The work year for the General Maintenance Technician begins on the first weekday in July, and ends 12 months later on the last weekday in June.
SALARY SCHEDULE & BENEFITS: The General Maintenance Technician is paid on the “Maintenance, Grounds and Skilled Personnel” salary schedule, and is eligible for benefits on the “Support Staff” benefits schedule. *Starting hourly rate is $ 21.71 for entry level technician, commensurate with experience.
REPORTS TO: The General Maintenance Technician reports to the Asst. Dir. of Facilities Engineering
SUPERVISES: The General Maintenance Technician does not supervise any other employee(s).
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Technician performs basic to semi-skilled trades work for the school district, including installation, repair, and preventive maintenance tasks in carpentry, HVAC systems, and related areas. This entry-level position works independently within scope of abilities or as part of a crew, with duties ranging from facility and equipment upkeep to air conditioning and refrigeration servicing, water treatment testing, and system adjustments. Performs related work as directed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the department, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other department members:
1. EDUCATION/TRAINING: High school diploma or GED is required.
2. EXPERIENCE: At least one year of previous carpentry experience is required.
3. CERTIFICATIONS &/OR LICENSES: The ability to obtain and maintain a valid Indiana driver’s license is required in order to drive Warren vehicles.
4. OTHER: Ability to perform the essential functions, meet the performance aptitudes, and fulfill the physical/sensory/environmental requirements of the job (with or without reasonable accommodations) is required.
