The data governance analyst will support the implementation and ongoing management of the foundation’s data governance framework. This role will focus on day-to-day execution of governance policies, data quality rule creation utilizing SQL skills, as well as monitoring, and documentation. The data governance analyst is responsible for ensuring that data remains accurate, complete, secure, and accessible to authorized business users. The analyst will work closely with business units, technology teams, and other stakeholders to help maintain data integrity and assist in projects that enhance the foundation’s ability to manage data as a strategic asset.
Based on qualifications and experience, a selected candidate may hold one of the following titles: Senior Data Governance Analyst or Associate Director of Data Governance
Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and implement data quality rules and conduct thorough analysis of data inconsistencies that deviate from established data integrity standards. This process requires proficiency in SQL and strong analytical and testing capabilities.
- Promote business process re-engineering by creating data process flows and highlighting areas for business process improvement to improve data integrity.
- Maintain the foundation’s data governance system including documenting data definitions, business rules, and stewardship responsibilities.
- Support the execution of data quality controls and monitor for anomalies, inconsistencies, or incomplete records.
- Identify opportunities to streamline data governance and data quality processes by leveraging automation tools, workflows, and scripts, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency.
- Collaborate with business and technology partners to document common data requirements and ensure alignment with established governance policies.
- Contribute to data integration initiatives by assisting in mapping data sources and documenting transformation rules.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in information management, data science, business, or another related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years of professional experience related to employment area. Education may be substituted for years of experience.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Must have knowledge of SQL, data governance concepts and tools, and data visualization and reporting tools.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be adaptable, flexible, and self-directed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software.
- Must be able to handle several activities simultaneously with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines and accuracy.
- Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
