What You’ll Do:
We are looking for an experienced Lead Cable Technician. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of field experience, be able to lead a team, interpret CAD designs, and assist with site surveys for new projects.
- Lead and manage cabling projects with support from technicians and temporary labor.
- Train and mentor new and entry-level technicians on proper infrastructure installation techniques.
- Interpret CAD design drawings, site plans, and blueprints; perform site surveys as needed.
- Install, terminate, relocate, remove, troubleshoot, and test Cat3, Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic, coax, riser cables, tie cables, paging systems, and related infrastructure.
- Complete pre-cabling preparation, installation of patch panels, 66/110 blocks, jacks, grounding, racks, ladder trays, and MDF/IDF build-outs.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair systems at the component level, using test equipment such as Fluke testers, toners, wands, voltage meters, and multi-meters.
- Attend project kick-off meetings with general contractors and customers; provide daily project updates to the Project Manager.
- Ensure all work complies with DataVox, OSHA, BICSI, EIA, and TIA standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory of tools, materials, and equipment, dispute discrepancies when necessary.
- Perform job site inspections to ensure quality, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction.
- Respond to customer requests in a professional, courteous manner.
- Responsible for housekeeping of job sites, including the removal of debris before departure.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Project Manager.
- Experience with Paging systems
Who You Are:
- 5+ years of experience with commercial cable installation required
- Extensive knowledge of copper and fiber cabling standards.
- Termination methods (T-568A & B, 66/110 blocks, patch panels).
- Paging systems (70V and -24V).
- Cable/ladder tray, grounding, MDF/IDF rack builds.
- Basic networking and electronics knowledge.
- Comfortable working at heights (poles, ladders, lifts).
- Able to lift heavy items, stand for long periods, and work in varied environments.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to interface effectively with other trades (electrical, contractors, builders).
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Self-starter who can work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Reliable vehicle and mobile phone.
- Must pass background check and drug screen.
- Must obtain personal tools within 60 days of employment.
- Willingness to travel and maintain a flexible work schedule.

Physical Demands:
Work involves standing, talking, hearing, using hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to walk, sit, climb, balance, stand, stoop, kneel, drive and reach. Skill in operation of some of the listed tools and equipment; and ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. The employee must frequently push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds and occasionally push, pull, lift and/or carry up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in inclement weather conditions. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration.
The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. Working on job sites require usage of required PPE including, safety vest, hard hat, safety glasses, Kevlar sleeves, hearing protection, etc.
