Job Description:

AECOM is seeking an early career Sustainability/Smart Energy Analyst to join the Energy Advisory & Consulting team (various locations and hybrid). This team works on a variety of grid modernization, decarbonization, energy strategy, energy tech/digital, and resilience related planning initiatives for governmental, utility, and private clients. Example topics covered by this team include building, energy system, and transportation decarbonization; microgrids; distributed generation and storage; energy efficiency; district energy systems; net-zero buildings, campuses, and communities; energy-water nexus; and coordinated infrastructure investment.

The Sustainability/Smart Energy Analyst will work closely with team members to develop high quality solutions for clients and partners.

Responsibilities for the position include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Primary tasks will include qualitative research, data analysis, presentation development, and writing client and/or public facing materials.
  • The applicant will be expected to synthesize concepts into written and visual reports for both non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Success in this position requires a dynamic individual with high energy and motivation with an acute passion for developing strategic energy management, smart energy, sustainability, and energy efficiency solutions.
  • Critical requirements include teamwork skills, knowledge of the energy/infrastructure industries, and the ability to develop high quality, creative project deliverables in a fast-paced and ever-evolving industry.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, collaboration, creative problem-solving, and leadership skills.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in engineering, economics, business, or related field.
  • 2 years of relative experience in energy, sustainability, resilience, smart city technology, climate, decarbonization, transportation electrification, or another relevant field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Knowledge of the financial, technical or policy aspects driving decarbonization, energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, smart energy, utility industries, and/or energy infrastructure development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate Degree in engineering, economics, or other related area
  • Previous experience working in consulting, utility, or government
  • Relevant certifications such as FE/PE, Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED, WELL, Envision
  • Strong writing skills and ability to communicate complex processes or ideas. simplistically visually and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
