EVS Operations Manager
Salaried/Exempt. 1.0 FTE, 80 hours Bi-Weekly
Normal hours centered around the core hours of 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Off-shift, evening and weekend hours required occasionally.

 

Position Overview:

The Environmental Services Operations Manager is responsible for managing all daily operations of the Environmental Services Departments at Winona Health. Under the direction of the Director of Environmental & Risk Management, this position maintains a high level of client/customer satisfaction, meets or exceeds quality and regulatory compliance standards, fiscal objectives and organization initiatives. Provides strong leadership and fosters development and mentoring for all Environmental Services and Laundry caregivers. Direct reports include EVS Supervisors, Housekeeping Technicians, Laundry Technicians, Floor Care Technicians and other environmental services caregivers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure regulatory health and safety practices are followed.
  • Utilize PDCA methods and CSI methodology for daily process improvements.
  • Actively participate in WH Leadership Academy.
  • Monitor cleaning and sanitation methods, processes, and standard practices.
  • Establish standards for personnel performance and excellent customer performance.
  • Establish and coordinate department work schedules.
  • Execute HR functions of the department including interviewing and recruiting, new caregiver orientation, and performance management.
  • Enforce policies and recommend improvements or changes as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of performance that meets or exceeds department and organization expectations.
  • Monitor budgets and payrolls, review financial transactions to ensure that expenditures are authorized and budgeted.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with purchasers and vendors.
  • Understands, supports, and integrates the organization’s vision/mission/values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Direct reports include EVS Supervisors, Housekeeping Technicians, Laundry Technicians, Floor Care Technicians and other environmental services caregivers.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • High School Diploma/GED Equivalent

Preferred:

  • 4 or more years of experience in the supervision or management in environmental services operations, healthcare or skilled nursing field preferred
  • 2-4 years’ experience with multi-campus environmental services operations
  • OSHA Certification

Physical Demands:

Sedentary Work

Activities that require lifting of objects up to 10-20# on rare to occasional basis. Sedentary work generally involves sitting most of the time, but may also involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Roles are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Light-Medium Work

Activities that require lifting frequently with 10#, occasionally with 15-20# and rarely 25#. Work activities that require push/pull force of 20-30# on frequent basis and rarely up to 40#. Light -Medium work generally is defined as all the work activities in the Light category of work except there is a higher push/pull force on a frequent basis and higher weight for lifting activities on a frequent basis compared to the Light work category.

Physical Requirements

  • May lift and carry supplies that weigh between 10-15# and max of 20#-35#
  • May push/pull carts on frequent basis with force of 20# to 40#
  • May Push/pull wheelchairs more frequently for longer distances
  • May assume reaching ranges frequently between vertical heights of 20-36” in either sitting or standing position to complete work activities. Reaching to retrieve items from storage may require occasional reaching at vertical heights of 18-20” and 40-72”
  • May assume frequent reaching to the front and side and occasional reaching above shoulder height while working in either sitting or standing positions
  • May require light to moderate grip or pinch force to complete work activities

Work Environment:

The environment consists of a moderate to rapid pace that requires flexibility to adjust to resident/patient and staffing needs. Physical demands are light to moderate with frequent bending, pulling, pushing and prolonged and sustained periods of standing and walking. Requires the ability to perform multi-task requirements in a high-low stress/fast-slow paced and many interruptions.
