The President of Carle Health’s Central Region will serve as the senior executive responsible for leading hospital operations, strategic growth, and community engagement across the region. This role encompasses oversight of Carle Health BroMenn Medical Center, Carle Health Eureka Hospital, and affiliated outpatient centers and specialty clinics serving Bloomington-Normal, Eureka, and surrounding communities.
Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Carle Health, the President will collaborate closely with system-level leaders, regional boards, physician partners, and community stakeholders to ensure alignment with Carle Health’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. The President will also serve as an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Central Region Board of Trustees and actively participate in board committees focused on quality, community health, and philanthropy.
President, Leadership Profile, Central Region:
Responsibilities:- Lead strategic planning and execution for the Central Region
- Ensures alignment with Carle Health’s enterprise goals.
- Oversee hospital operations, including quality, safety, financial performance, and patient experience.
- Build and sustain strong relationships with physicians, clinical teams, and administrative leaders.
- Champion initiatives that improve access, equity, and outcomes across urban and rural communities.
- Represent Carle Health in regional advocacy, philanthropy, and community engagement efforts.
- Support governance and board relations, contributing to strategic oversight and community accountability.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement across all entities in the region.
- Partner across the Carle Health system to develop and implement coordinated systems of care across a geography.
- Ability to engage board members in strategic planning and oversight.
- Familiarity with shared governance models and physician alignment strategies
- Recruitment, engagement, and partnership development.
- Proven ability to lead organizational transformation
- Proven ability to lead integration of service lines and operational models to support system-wide strategic goals.
- Experience leading consumer-focused innovation
- Prepares operations to implement new technologies and digital health capabilities with a focus on improving patient access and clinical quality
Certifications:
- Clinical credentials (e.g., MD, DO, RN) are welcomed but not required.
Education:
- Master's Degree - Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or Related
Work Experience, Knowledge, and Skills:
- Executive leadership in a complex, integrated healthcare system - 7 to 10 years
- Preferred experience within a multi-hospital or regional structure
- Demonstrated success in leading acute care hospital operations
- Achieved performance excellence across quality, safety, financial, and patient experience metrics.
- Experience working in or with rural and community-based healthcare settings
- Ability to understand unique challenges and opportunities rural healthcare settings present.
- Deep knowledge of healthcare delivery models, regulatory environments
- Deep knowledge of merging trends in population health, digital transformation, and value-based care.
- Financial acumen, including experience with budget development, capital planning
- Provides resource optimization to support long-term sustainability.
- Experience working with or reporting to a board of trustees
- Strong understanding of governance best practices
Salary Range:
- $375,000-$550,000
- Incentive compensation calculated separately
