Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): 
Bachelor degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Four (4) years of full-time related administrative experience which may include developing and managing clinical or non-clinical placements, developing and maintaining clinical affiliation contracts and agreements, identifying and communicating facility requirements such as orientation and EHR training, collecting and maintaining student and preceptor documentation or similar. Experience working in a clinical educational environment. Experience with databases which may include Microsoft Excel or Access or Google Sheets, or Sonia, V-Placement Pro, CCPS, etc. 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Previous clinical coordinator experience. Previous experience working in a hospital and/or academic setting and/or in the hospital industry in an administrative capacity. Experience with managing enrollment. Data entry and management experience. Recruitment experience. Experience working with EXXAT or similar placement management software. 

Brief Description of Duties: 
The Clinical Placement Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between Stony Brook University Health Systems and Stony Brook University's Health Sciences Schools to coordinate clinical and non-clinical placements for graduate and undergraduate students. This role will help to grow the next generation of health professionals by ensuring continuity of clinical education in a world-class medical, health sciences, and research institution. The Clinical Placement Coordinator must have the ability to communicate with all levels of Hospital and Health Sciences personnel. It is essential that the Clinical Placement Coordinator works well under deadline pressure. The successful incumbent will possess excellent interpersonal skills, time management skills, and demonstrate an exceptional attention to detail. 

Duties:

  • The Clinical Placement Coordinator will assess, monitor, and coordinate placements withing disciplines and match the available rotation slots with the placement needs of each of the Health Sciences Schools and Programs. This Clinical Rotations Coordinator will collaborate with the Health System, and the following schools and programs but not limited to:

    • Graduate Medical Education

    • Renaissance School of Medicine

    • School of Dental Medicine

    • School of Health Professions

    • School of Nursing

    • School of Social Work

    • Family Population and Preventative Medicine - Program in Nutrition

    • Program in Public Health

    • Department of Psychology

  • Coordinate with each discipline to determine the availability of preceptors, sites, and clinical and non-clinical rotation slots within the Health System and its affiliates.

  • Schedule residents, graduate students, and/or undergraduate students for clinical and non-clinical rotations.

  • Identify new opportunities within the Stony Brook University Health System for Placements; become a strategic player in planning rotations for each applicable Health Science School.

  • Confirm placements with preceptors, the Health Sciences Schools' Contract Specialists and Directors of Clinical Education for each School or Program.

  • Consider external request(s) for placement. Review with the appropriate committee any inbound requests for rotations, subject to availability and clearing of conflicts. 

  • Manage and maintain a comprehensive database to determine availability of rotations in Hospital units and its affiliated sites. 

  • Assist with recruiting and retaining preceptors.

  • Review and monitor requirements for clinical placements.

  • Regularly check in with academic units to assess new and existing clinical needs.

  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission. 


Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for theovertime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met tomaintain FLSA exemption.

In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $4000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
