Head of Human Resources
Balentine is seeking an experienced HR leader to play a pivotal role in guiding Balentine through growth. The Head of Human Resources will serve as the primary HR leader for the organization, overseeing core human resources functions including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, performance management, and culture initiatives. This is a highly visible and influential role that requires both strategic thinking and tactical execution.
The successful candidate will lead and develop the existing HR team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to ensure effective execution of day-to-day operations, while fostering professional growth and alignment with company goals. The successful candidate will have the skills to assess the current state of HR policies and practices and provide a plan to scale.
Responsibilities
Strategic & Organizational Tasks
- Collaborate closely with the COO and senior leadership to align people strategies with business objectives.
- Lead workforce planning initiatives with senior leadership to identify gaps, future needs, and succession strategies.
- Anticipate organizational shifts and guide teams through transitions due to team reorganization, growth, or acquisition.
- Assist leadership on change management.
Talent, Performance Management, & Compensation Strategy
- Lead performance management efforts, including review cycles, succession planning, and career development.
- Oversee compensation strategy and implementation of LTIP.
- Develop and maintain compensation bands for all roles and levels.
- Lead annual salary review cycles, including preparing manager guidance, tracking approvals, and updating systems.
- Maintain ongoing benchmarking of roles and compensation data to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness.
- Develop and maintain a workforce planning model; assist HR team with maintaining HR metrics.
- Manage recruitment efforts for mid- and senior-level roles; assist HR team with entry- and mid-level recruitment efforts.
- Develop cyclical manager training to ensure consistent and smooth talent development and performance management.
- Provide coaching and support to managers on employee performance and development.
HR Function & Compliance
- Lead and develop the HR team, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to ensure effective day-to-day operations as well as long-term strategic initiatives.
- Identify gaps in current HR processes, policies, and tools to ensure a people-first and scalable strategy.
- Ensure HR policies and practices are up-to-date with employment laws and regulatory requirements; advise leadership in minimizing risk.
- Use people data to guide decision-making, track key metrics and identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Culture & Employee Engagement
- Model the company’s values in day-to-day practices, policies, and leadership behaviors—ensuring culture remains a cornerstone even through growth and change.
- Equip leaders with practical tools and frameworks to manage, develop, and inspire their teams.
- Help foster a connected, inclusive, and motivating employee experience that reflects who we are and where we’re going.
- Support HR team in culture and professional development initiatives.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Professional Services industry
- A minimum of 2 years managing a team of HR professionals
- Bachelor’s degree
- Master’s degree, SHRM-CP, or PHR certification preferred
- Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and best practices
- Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Experience working in a high-growth or scaling organization
