The Mold/Tool Cleaner role is responsible for keeping the production molds in a clean and orderly condition so that they work efficiently during normal plant operations. 

** The role will work a 12-hour shift from 5pm to 5:30am and will work a rotating schedule:

Week 1 – 36 Hours (Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)
Week 2 – 48 Hours (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday)

What you will do for UGN:

  • Utilize the scheduling board to obtain molds that require cleaning.
  • Transport molds to the Mold Cleaning area using a forklift and attach the mold to the Mold Flipper Hoist.
  • Disassemble the mold for cleaning.
  • Inspect mold for damage, focusing on electrical hookups and latches.
  • Use dry ice or other chemicals that are designated to clean the various molds utilized in the
    manufacturing facility.
  • Clean all molds and SMED plates, removing dirt, excess material, fuzz, etc.
  • Must be willing to drive forklifts utilized to move molds.
  • Ability to use a mold flipper.
  • Maintain dry ice and chemical inventory to assure availability for tool/mold cleans.
  • Set up and operate the ice blaster and grinding wheel.
  • Paint molds.
  • Communicate effectively with other team members as well as attend all plant meetings, training,
    shift meetings, etc.
  • May assist in mold set-ups for production and may work in production operations when mold clean-up schedule permits.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and timely manner.
  • Must be willing and able to use an air purifying respirator. (Requires a Pulmonary Function test and
    maintaining facial hair that allows a seal with a respirator).
  • Maintain a clean work area in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed to accommodate production schedules.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

What you will bring to UGN:

  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months of manufacturing experience.
  • Ability to operate electric-powered cleaning machines.
  • Ability to read elementary operating instructions, production boards, material labels, safety and hazard warnings, manuals, etc. and writing ability to complete process forms and related production reporting paperwork.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic skills.
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Mechanical aptitude/experience with hands-on work.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to use strong skills in analyzing, troubleshooting and evaluating problems.
