Environmental Health and Safety Intern

Role Overview

Research best practice for the development of a corporate business continuity framework taking into consideration all relevant MACOM sites, departments and complex supply chain. The intern will be expected to make recommendations based on research undertaken and assist in developing the framework and templates for use by all relevant departments. The intern will also be expected to engage with these departments to help them to understand the requirements of the framework and develop their own business continuity plans.

As a member of the EHS team, the EHS Intern will work alongside experienced EHS professionals providing mentoring, guidance, and introductions to colleagues. 

This Internship with MACOM will help the Intern to gain valuable work experience in a key discipline, build professional relationships, and take ownership of a business-critical project.

During the 12 weeks the EHS Intern will:

• As an EHS Intern, you will gain knowledge and understanding of Environmental, Health, and Safety practices through hands-on activities, coaching, and projects
• Assist in identifying potential hazards and supporting the implementation of safety measures to mitigate risks in the workplace
• Monitor compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, and providing solutions to ensure continuous adherence to standards
• Respond to and assisting in the investigation of EHS incidents, including root cause analysis and the development of corrective actions
• Prepare and participate in EHS audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and support the maintenance of a safe work environment
• Lead initiatives to improve participation in a proactive prevention
• Focus on the development of a lock out tag out (LOTO) program

Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, in a field related to EHS
• Strong communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Basic project management or organizational skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
