The Texas Real Estate Research Center was founded in 1971 by an act of the Texas Legislature. The Center’s enabling legislation defines a broad mandate to “conduct studies in all areas related directly or indirectly to real estate and/or urban or rural economics.” In addition to research programs in residential, commercial, and rural land economics, the Center maintains administrative, data, and communications teams to support its research agenda. What We Want
The Texas Real Estate Research Center is seeking a Business Administrator III who will manage the full range of business activities in the Center, including reviewing and approving business documents, and developing, monitoring, and reporting accounts, budgets, and other quantitative data. The preferred candidate will have a masters in accounting or business and will have more than seven years of experience in managing business operations at TAMU. We are looking to hire a candidate who is a team player and who will promote collaboration and cooperation while leading a team. Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Seven years of experience in general office, accounting, or personnel operations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Professional, service-oriented attitude and behavior.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. High-level planning and organizational skills.
Able to prioritize effectively.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to lead teams, manage staff, resolve problems and meet deadlines.

Attentive to detail.
Advanced knowledge of FAMIS/Canopy, AggieBuy, Concur, iPayments and other TAMU operations software.
Experience with QuickBooks.
Working knowledge of Laserfiche.
Advanced experience with MS Word, MS Excel, Adobe Pro and Sign.
Advanced knowledge of TAMU rules and procedures for procurement, contracts and travel.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, business, or related field.
More than seven years’ experience in managing business operations at TAMU. Extensive experience in accounting, analysis, budget preparation and reporting within the Texas A&M University.
Experience in developing procedural handbooks, presentations, regular and ad hoc reports. Able to facilitate meetings.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management- Oversees financial operations and maintains financial health of the unit. Serves as an approver and back-up signer of vouchers and requisitions. Manages reconciliations for FAMIS and Foundation accounts. Manages financial transactions, including cost assignments to accounts and projects. Monitors and controls unit expenditures within budget guidelines and makes projections. Develops annual budget documents for approval. Creates monthly and ad hoc reports of unit finances. Manages cash handling activities and unit capital equipment purchasing. Processes contracts. Serves as accountability property officer. Serves as liaison with financial, payroll, and human resources units. Interprets System policies and regulations and University rules. Manages maintenance of unit business files. Manages annual fiscal year closing activities. Resolves operational and procedural financial problems. Prepares and analyzes business reports, and space allocation reports. Manages allocations and reporting. Performs analyses of resource allocations and operating fund requirements.
Personnel Management- Manages personnel activities including preparing position analyses and updating position descriptions. Communicates with employees regarding personnel policies and procedures and identifies training needs. Responsible for recognition activities. Provides guidance to staff. Participates in the hiring and training of subordinate business staff and student workers. May supervise staff and resolve staff conflicts.
Leadership- Aligns with the center’s mission and leadership. Advances the center’s reputation through professional interactions and behavior within or outside the department. Develops strategic goals and objectives for functional unit. Oversees and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals. Plans, implements, coordinates, monitors, and evaluates policies and procedures and monitors compliance with policies and procedures. Develops and recommends policies, procedures, and guidelines. Identifies business-related needs and problems and proposes solutions.
Implements and audits business procedures and trains staff on new and existing procedures. Provides advice on administrative and fiscal procedures. Conducts surveys of customer needs and satisfaction. Advise and assist with center programs and conferences, as needed.
