Wood is recruiting for Principal Piping Designer to support across various high-profile projects in the UK. The Principal Engineer will join our Systems Integration team within our Digital Consulting business.
There is a requirement for hybrid working with Tuesday and Wednesday being based out of any of the following locations – Aberdeen, Glasgow or Staines. Occasional travel to the client site is also expected as required.
This position will be for a minimum 6 month duration on a contract basis.
Please note applicants must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check.

Responsibilities
Key Objectives for this role:
- Executing assigned scopes of work
- Participates in and reinforces a positive HSE culture
- Assesses feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, products, and equipment
- Uses advanced technical knowledge to perform engineering design assignments and produce engineering deliverables and to complete any project tasks with minimal guidance and direction
- Provides technical reviews for complex project within the area of expertise
- Assists in establishing project aims and outcomes to contribute to the development of a comprehensive project design
- Formulates and directs investigations or prototype, model and system studies, evaluating and interpreting the data obtained and recommending practical application of results
- Contributes to successful project completion by participating in the resolution of issues such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of standard materials, and complex coordination requirements
- Work consists of complex procedures and tasks where diagnostic ability is required to assess the situation and identify appropriate actions to follow
- Advises on the development of new engineering methods and participates in short and long-range planning

Expected:
- Degree in relevant engineering discipline alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence
- Skilled and knowledgeable in the use and application of 3D Piping Design software, 2D CAD Software and performance of model reviews
- Familiar with current Piping codes and standards ASME, IGEM, BS, ANSI etc
- Chartership, PE Status or relevant professional license / registration accredited by a recognized body preferred
- Must be able to pass HMG Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) check
