Job Title: Playground Club Site Coordinator

Division: Club Operations

Location: Santa Monica – Edison Elementary 

Status: 25 hrs./week, Nonexempt

Salary Range: $25/hour

Reporting to the Manager of Playground Clubs, the Site Coordinator at Edison Elementary will serve as the on-site lead for SMBGC programming at the school site, driving youth engagement and enrollment, collaboration with school leadership, and supervising on-site youth development professionals. The Site Coordinator is a dynamic, organized, and community focused leader responsible for the safety and well-being of club members. This role requires strong administrative and organizational skills, as well as a passion for facilitating outdoor activities, and play rooted in SEL. This role serves the primary leader for site outreach and engagement with parents and the Edison community. 

The qualified candidate will have strong team leadership skills, a passion for youth development, and be adaptable to design programming in a unique school campus space. 


Essential Functions of the Position:


“As a Site Coordinator, you’ll be the heartbeat of our Edison Elementary program—building relationships, shaping experiences, and empowering youth every day.”


Youth Development: Experience working directly with grades and developmental stages for 1st-5th grade, in a positive and engaging manner. This role teaches other staff how to facilitate Boys & Girls Club curriculum, how to leverage tech and online curriculum in unique settings like a playground, and critical components of leading trauma-informed programming rooted in principles of social/emotional learning. 


Program Design & Oversight: This role will collaborate with the Playground Club Manager to design, plan, and implement quality, high-yield afterschool activities in an outdoor setting. Key to success if the ability to solicit the voice of youth, plan and lead engaging play-based activities, and grow youth retention in after school programming. Must be creative, leverage technology, adaptable to school specific needs, and human-centered. 

Program Oversight includes supervision of 2-3 Youth Development Professional staff with scheduling, training, team meetings, and learning and development opportunities. Additionally, this position will partner with senior leadership to ensure safety protocols and practices are in place to ensure the physical, emotional, and environmental safety of the youth we serve. The Site Coordinator will manage site supplies, materials, snacks, tech, and equipment, ensuring appropriate resources and supplies are utilized for an exceptional program experience for club members. 


Build Community & Connection: Foster relationships with school leadership and parents. The PM must establish a strong partnership with school administration and support shared goals of increasing engagement of youth who remain on campus after school. Standardize site specific communications, and work to share resources and opportunities that SMBGC has to offer with parents and community. This role will collaborate with other senior leaders to build alignment with all programs for elementary school.

Requirements

Experiences You’ll Bring 


  •  Demonstrated experience facilitating programming for elementary youth with an understanding of SEL and trauma-informed practice. 
  • Knowledge of local school districts in Santa Monica or LA. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of healthy play, activity, and age-appropriate activities for elementary youth. 
  • Experience supervising and managing either direct service teams, staff, volunteers, or interns. Demonstrated experiences mentoring or coaching. 
  • Strong organizational, communications, and planning skills to include managing deadlines, documenting practices, facilitating team meetings, and managing program logistics
  • Demonstrated experiences with holding crucial conversations, de-escalation, mentoring, and supporting youth. 
  • Experience supporting or running after school programs, camps, sports programs for youth, outdoor experiences or excursions for youth. Must be able to manage safety protocols
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate your ideas clearly and for diverse audiences. Experience with digital platforms: Teams, Zoom, Excel, PowerPoint, and case management or databases are required. Daily use of case management software and email is required. 
  • Experience with community outreach, enrollment events, tabling, and planning field trips. 

Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate

  • Experience working in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or youth serving nonprofits, and program design. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in youth development, out-of-school-time programming, or related nonprofit leadership roles. 
  • At least 1 year of staff supervision experience, including onboarding or training, coaching, and performance management. Demonstrated supervision of volunteers and/or interns will be considered. 
  • Understanding and experience with safety protocols when working with youth in an education or after-school setting.  
  • Training of SEL curriculum, and motivational interviewing. 
  • Great organizational skills, attention to detail, project management, use of Microsoft 365 apps, databases, and general case management.  
  • Familiarity supply orders and program budgeting. 
  • 48 college hours or CBEST Requirement
