The Scrum Master will be responsible for guiding and managing the enrolled cohort of startups and/or scaleups within the ABS Accelerator program. Part of a cross-functional and agile Open Innovation team, this position will be responsible for ensuring timely and successful delivery of digital solutions incrementally and iteratively to meet the customer and business goals.
What You Will Do:
- Supports the Open Innovation team in the accelerator program management including cohort selection and preparation for periodic innovation events such as hackathons, demo days and technical symposiums.
- Guides and manages three to four startup or scaleup (cohort) teams through the delivery of digital solutions and services, embracing and promoting the Agile mindset. Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the cohort teams; coaches to higher levels of maturity, at a pace that is sustainable and comfortable.
- Assists Product Owners from the cohort teams to ensure product backlog is well defined, prioritized and organized along with release plans.
- Organizes and facilitates agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, sprint retrospectives, sprint demo and sprint reviews.
- Ensures the cohort teams’ progress toward customer and business goals, and artifacts representing this, are visible and transparent to stakeholders. Leads development of relevant visual artifacts and information radiators.
- Helps the cohort teams evolve their “Definition of Ready” and “Definition of Done” to incrementally improve quality of customer outcomes and traceability to business outcomes.
- Manages dependencies both internal and external to the cohort teams and product and ensures communication and handoff of dependencies.
- Acts as the internal glue driving effective communication and collaboration between cohort teams, Open Innovation team and other relevant ABS teams.
- Helps the cohort teams quickly make visible any impediments to progress and works with the Open Innovation team to remove and prevent blockers.
- Influences the cohort teams toward a continuous improvement and experimentation culture for both product and process, ensuring that each Sprint becomes more innovative, effective and enjoyable.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or related field.
- Typically requires at least 2 years of experience in a Scrum Master role for software development teams in an agile environment.
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification is required. Advanced CSM is preferred.
- Direct experience as a Scrum Master for software development teams that have applied Scrum principles, practices, and theory. SaaS or PaaS experience is preferred.
- Experience being on multiple Scrum teams in a variety of different contexts such as different team sizes, different organizations, different cultures, co located vs. distributed, etc. is preferred.
- Experience with design/UX, interfacing dependencies, software architectural design, or database design.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrate working knowledge with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc.).
- Good skills and knowledge of servant leadership, facilitation, situational awareness, conflict resolution, continual improvement, empowerment, and increasing transparency.
- Strong team player with the ability to influence and negotiate and work effectively with groups/team dynamic.
- Working knowledge of Scrum Master tools set Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, Zoom, etc.
- Ability to perform under pressure and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced and technology driven environment.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and critical thinking skills as well as attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Good written and communication skills - ability to effectively document and present ideas both verbally and visually.
- Ability to obtain a working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management system.
