Job Summary:
Monument Academy TAs will be dedicated to the education of the students and to Monument Academy’s overall educational philosophy. They will show result-producing attitudes and abilities and perceive learners as individuals. Educator assistants should lead by example in their attempt and empower students to become literate, caring, effectively functioning, and constructive members of our society. He or she will work as a team member, sharing common planning, professional development, program development and implementation, and TA responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties & Responsibilities:
Implement school performance standards and core virtues through all aspects of instruction.
Supervise students in various settings such as recess, lunch duty, carpool and other activities as required.
Assist teachers in creating and maintaining a classroom that is safe, nurturing and productive, in which the students are encouraged to develop to their full potential.
Collaborate with teachers and other TAs on the educational team about student needs.
Develop and maintain family-school relationships that foster the academic and social development of the child.
Provide the one on one parallel assistance individual students may require.
Under the classroom teacher’s supervision, assist in reinforcing material introduced and taught by teacher.
Assist with collection of data for assessment and monitoring purposes.
Maintain, organize and order classroom materials, books and equipment and keep an up-to-date inventory of these materials.
Share areas of expertise with other TAs on the team.
Attend pre-employment training and on-going professional development as required.
Attend meetings when requested to stay current with school procedures, technology, and educational trends.
Support the teacher by entering grades into the school software system when needed.
Required Skills & Abilities:
Understanding of pedagogy and the best practices of education.
Desire to teach school-aged children and ability to adapt to their developmental status.
Ability to assist in designing lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, demonstrations, and individual or collaborative projects and research.
Supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the classroom.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Creative analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education & Experience:
A High School Diploma
A combination of child development education and professional experience working with children.
Experience working with children with a variety of needs and diverse backgrounds.
Skill with communicating in a professional manner to staff, families, and the community.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer or standing to teach.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust one's tone and height, by bending or leaning, in order to teach each child.
