Description
Position Summary:
The Human Resources Generalist plays a key role in supporting and facilitating the daily
functions of the Human Resources (HR) department. This position is responsible for executing
HR processes and programs across the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding,
employee relations, benefits administration, HRIS maintenance, compliance, and training
support.
Working closely with both employees and management, the HR Generalist serves as a point of
contact for HR-related inquiries and supports a culture of fairness, inclusion, accountability, and
professional development. The role requires strong knowledge of HR principles, employment
laws, and best practices, as well as a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Engagement:
- Provide guidance to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, and employee concerns.
- Assist in resolving employee relations issues, documenting disciplinary actions, and ensuring consistent application of policies.
- Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture through communication, feedback, and support initiatives.
Recruitment & Onboarding:
- Support the full recruitment lifecycle, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, and offer coordination.
- Conduct new hire orientations and coordinate onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition into the organization.
Benefits & Leave Administration:
- Assist with benefits enrollment, open enrollment activities, and employee inquiries regarding health, retirement, and wellness plans.
- Administer leave of absence requests (FMLA, STD, LTD, etc.) and ensure compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
Compliance & Recordkeeping:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in the HRIS and personnel files.
- Support audits, reporting, and documentation related to HR programs and employment practices.
HRIS & Operational Support:
- Maintain HR systems and support data entry, reporting, and workflows.
- Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of HR initiatives and policies.
Training & Development Support:
- Assist in coordinating employee training sessions, compliance courses, and professional development opportunities.
- Track participation and completion of mandatory training programs.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2–4 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices (FLSA, FMLA, EEO, ADA, etc.).
- Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., UKG, ADP, Paycom) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, and build trust across all levels of the organization.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred (or willingness to pursue within 12 months).
