Shift: 7:15AM – 2:45PM (Monday, Wednesday, Saturday)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Community Safety Liaison ensures a safe, welcoming, and orderly environment at Catholic Charities Hunger Relief program sites. This role provides unarmed security, light facility maintenance, and support of daily program operations. The Specialist helps protect clients, volunteers, and staff while also assisting with building upkeep. Work hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 7:30am to 2:00pm at Loaves and Fishes.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • · Monitor entrances, exits, and common areas to ensure safety and deter disruptive or unauthorized activity.
  • · Provide a calm, visible presence to promote order during meal services and volunteer activities.
  • · Respond quickly and appropriately to incidents, using de-escalation techniques and contacting emergency services if needed.
  • · Maintain incident reports and communicate security concerns promptly to supervisors.
  • · Conduct periodic safety inspections of the building and grounds, reporting maintenance or safety hazards.
  • · Assist with orderly crowd flow and client engagement, ensuring a respectful, supportive environment.
  • · Assist in cleaning and light upkeep/maintenance of program spaces, including dining areas, kitchens, and restrooms.
  • · Support loading/unloading of supplies and maintain organized storage areas.
  • · Ensure walkways, entry points, and public spaces are safe, accessible, and free of hazards.
  • · Provide backup support during meal service, including welcoming guests and guiding volunteers.
  • · Assist Program Coordinator and volunteers in day-to-day operations as assigned.
  • · Maintain basic program records according to agency guidelines.
  • · Assists with loading and unloading of supplies, with the ability to lift 35 pounds.
  • · Maintains accurate client/program records regarding services provided according to Agency guidelines, using the database(s) provided by the agency and within Agency time frame.
  • · Actively participates in supervision sessions, periodic team meetings, and training as needed.
  • · Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements

  

Required Education and/or Experience

  • · High school diploma with 2 or more years of experience or associate degree. 
  • · Security guard certification
  • · Prior experience working with in-crisis populations of various mental health concerns, and economic, ethnic, and racial backgrounds is preferred.
  • · Knowledge of basic human relations and working with populations in need.
  • · Must demonstrate emotional stability and have high personal integrity.
  • · Capable of being calm and having non-judgmental interactions with people in various life situations.
  • · Must be able to work on a team, but also independently with little direction.
  • · Effective interpersonal skills.
  • · Ability to use critical thinking to help bring solutions to problems.
  • · A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality concerning participants and fellow employees. 
  • · Flexibility with work schedule and responding to team and client needs.
  • · Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • · Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • · Ability to learn databases, and other systems.
  • · Current driver’s license required. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation.
