Reports to: Head of Lower School
Primary Responsibilities:
- Carries out all responsibilities associated with a normal teaching load in partnership with the Language teaching team
- Daily schedule: 7:30 - 11:00am Flex substitute assisting other classes, as needed, and prepping for teaching; 11:00 am - 3:00pm teaching 4th and 5th grade Spanish.
- Execute a purposeful curriculum, multi-modal instruction, and a variety of assessments in order to reach a diverse community of learners (academically, culturally, racially, religiously, etc.).
- Support the established classroom culture of belonging for all students.
- Working in concert with a teaching team and following through on plans.
- Providing regular and timely student feedback and informative parent communication, as needed
- Participates in faculty, department, team, and grade-level meetings.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree with significant coursework in Spanish or a related field.
- Self-directed with good time management skills and the ability to manage concurrent responsibilities.
- Love of working with young students and a willingness to engage them as whole students, balancing care and compassion with challenge and accountability.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills to facilitate effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, and supervisors.
- A strong desire to work in a collaborative learning community.
- Regular carpool duty (morning)
- Professionalism, consistent application of school policies, and regular and reliable attendance.
