Description

Assistant Production Manager

The Assistant Production Manager plays a critical leadership role in supporting plant operations, assisting in ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are met in compliance with ISO, government and commercial contract requirements. This role also emphasizes fostering an inclusive and accessible work environment for a diverse workforce. The Assistant Production Manager works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, empower employees, and maintain high standards of excellence in a unique and dynamic manufacturing setting.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily management of production operations, including scheduling, workflow, capacity planning, and inventory control.
  • Assist with achieving on-time delivery of military and commercial textile products while meeting quality, cost, and compliance standards.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager to assist in the implementation of continuous improvement strategies to enhance quality, efficiency and compliance.
  • Assist in ensuring all operations align with ISO 9001 standards, government contract requirements, and company policies.
  • Provide inclusive leadership and adaptive supervision to a large workforce, including employees who are blind or visually impaired.
  • Monitor performance and provide training, coaching, and support to production team.
  • Participate in performance evaluations, staff development, and mentorship programs with a focus on employee engagement and retention.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control and Procurement to ensure smooth production flow and inventory accuracy.
  • Partner with Quality Control to uphold strict quality control and ISO documentation standards.
  • Assist in internal and external audits, including those conducted by ISO certifiers and government agencies.
  • Promote a safe, accessible, and respectful workplace, including supporting the use of assistive technologies and adaptive methods.
  • Act as a resource and advocate for accessibility and productivity enhancements on the production floor.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for industrial sewing machines and related equipment to ensure minimal downtime. 
  • Ensure that all safety protocols and company policies are adhered to and clearly communicated. 
  • Support facility management activities, including equipment upgrades, layout optimization, and lean manufacturing initiatives.

 

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in plant, operations, or production management.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 standards and government contract compliance is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills coupled with excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production tracking or ERP systems.
