About the Role
You will support the Head Chef in developing innovative menus, achieving food cost targets, and delivering successful events such as graduations and conferences.
Key responsibilities include ensuring food safety compliance, managing stock, ordering supplies, and contributing to the training and development of kitchen staff.
About You
- Ability to consistently prepare and cook a wide range of menu dishes to a high standard, to enhance sales.
- Recent experience of working in commercial, industrial or public catering on a medium/large scale.
- Current health & safety qualification
- Basic IT skills
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the catering industry
- Current Health & Safety Qualifications
- Kitchen management qualification
- Advanced food hygiene
Additional Information
The salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.
- The University operates a No Smoking policy to promote a healthier work environment.
- The contract is 5 out of 7 days so a day off may be given in the week in order to work a weekend shift. Due to operational requirements some flexibility of working hours will be required in order to meet business needs. The department can be open 7 days a week and post holders will be required to work on a 5 out of 7 rotating pattern. Covering early mornings, evenings & weekends. Advanced notice will be provided.
- Clean driving licence. Some driving to other units may be needed.
- Reasonable notice will be given and the appropriate enhanced rate of pay in accordance with conditions of service will apply.
- Annual leave to be approved by the Head Chef in accordance with the operational needs of the service. Peak business is September to December and several events in July, Annual leave will be limited throughout these periods
- This post is based primarily at Newton Park; the postholder may be required to work at our other campuses.
