How does this role contribute to our collective success?
As a Senior Wordings Technician, you play a critical role in ensuring AXIS delivers clear, compliant, and commercially effective insurance contracts. Your expertise directly supports underwriting excellence, consumer trust, and regulatory integrity. Specifically, you will ensure AXIS wordings and those used by Coverholders:
Comply with current and emerging regulatory requirements across UK, EEA, and global jurisdictions.
Are clear, concise, and consumer-friendly, supporting fair outcomes and contract certainty.
Accurately reflect the obligations, rights, and responsibilities of all contracting parties.
Enhance AXIS’s reputation for technical precision and market-leading documentation.
Support innovation in product development and digital policy issuance.
Act as a strategic partner to Underwriters, Conduct Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations.
What will you do in this role?
Manage complex wording negotiations with brokers and clients, ensuring clarity and commercial viability.
Review and sign off documentation relating to Policy Wordings for Consumer, SME and Micro-Enterprises.
Lead the development and implementation of wording standards across multiple product lines.
Identify legal and regulatory requirements.
Monitor requested wording reviews alongside Conduct Risk.
Assist Conduct Risk in benchmarking exercises across internal products.
Summarize and share regulatory changes within the AXIS community which will include conducting training sessions for Underwriters and Operations staff on wording best practices, relevant case-law and regulatory updates.
Assist in maintaining processes and guidance documentation.
Support Underwriters with technical queries and the evolution of wordings.
Lead audits and quality assurance reviews of policy documentation to ensure consistency and compliance.
Drive innovation in wording automation and digital documentation tools.
Represent AXIS in external forums such as LMA and IUA to influence market standards and stay ahead of industry trends.
Collaborate with Conduct Risk and Product Development teams to ensure wordings reflect strategic and regulatory priorities.
You may also be required to take on additional duties, responsibilities and activities appropriate to the nature of this role.
About You:

What you need to have:
Have a legal, claims or insurance background, ideally in a wordings role.
Excellent attention to detail.
Be agile and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience at all levels, including Executive Leadership.
The ability to take ownership of tasks and to independently lead small projects if required.
An inquisitive mind, not afraid to challenge ideas and ask questions.
What we prefer you to have:
• Exposure to the London Market in two or more business classes.
• An understanding of regulatory requirements in local and international territories.
• The ability to recognise and implement operational improvement processes.
• A good technical knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Role Factors:
In this role, you will typically be required to be in the office 6 days (minimum) within a calendar month. You will be supporting the Customer Operations team to maintain and develop wordings for AXIS customers.
