Lead the enablement of active transport and vibrancy outcomes across NSW through place activation and urban design.

In this role, you'll

 

  • Report to the Deputy Secretary of our Planning, Integration & Passenger division, responsible for representing the voice of the customer to drive community outcomes and make investment decisions.
  • Lead and oversee the Active Transport and Vibrancy branch, driving collaboration across agencies and stakeholders to shape priorities and deliver programs & initiatives
  • Lead the development and implementation of the NSW Active Transport Strategy, making it easier and more appealing for people to walk, cycle and use other eco-friendly travel modes and influence and advocate for the integration of active transport including Active Precincts, into policy, strategy and transport planning.
  • Set the design direction for the built form, ensure designing with country is embedded through mindful collaboration and visible in enduring place outcomes
  • Ensure Transport infrastructure makes a positive contribution to place through optimisation of community and passenger acceptance of projects through people and context focused urban design
  • Advocate for reforms and empower stakeholders through education and resources to drive innovative solutions that align with broader urban design and active transport strategies, as well as the state’s vision for vibrant communities.
  • Award and manage grants to address active transport and vibrancy needs and priorities
  • Lead and develop a high-performing, collaborative and inclusive team that feels empowered to deliver results
  • Demonstrate a solutions-focused approach, supporting partners and delivering on commitments

 

 

About You


This is your opportunity to shape the future of the transport realm, mobility and community wellbeing! As a passionate, strategic executive leader, you'll bring a proven track record in planning, policy, design and program delivery.


Experienced in leading a team of subject matter experts, you'll enable the creation of walkable, cycle-friendly precincts that foster social connection, economic vitality and enhanced quality of life for communities. Your expertise in designing and activating public spaces and enhancing local destinations will help bring neighbourhoods to life.


Collaborating closely with other government agencies, councils and community groups, you'll oversee the award of grants, rollout of toolkits and other resources that develop partner capacity to activate public spaces and advocate for their unique transport needs. 


Drawing on your strategic acumen, you'll provide trusted advice to senior executives, Ministers and policymakers, ensuring active transport, urban design, place-making and vibrancy considerations are seamlessly integrated into infrastructure projects. 


You’ll hold relevant tertiary qualifications and ideally have proven experience in government, along with deep knowledge of how to get things done in the public sector.
