Basic Job Functions:

Design Engineer Interns at Vulcraft are trained just like new full time Design Engineers and participate in a number of engineering functions. The primary function is the Design of Open Web Steel Joists and Steel Deck ensuring that all products meet the design requirements for projects varying from small gas stations to large athletic stadiums and multimillion square foot warehouses located all around the country.

Other functions include the following:

• • Providing guidance to the CAD detailers
  • Research and development of new products and fabrication methods
  • Process improvement across the manufacturing facility
  • Business analysis and strategic planning
  • Communicating with customers to provide quality products and solutions
  • Promoting Vulcraft products to design community 
  • Leadership development and team building

Candidates must be willing to relocate to the Chemung, NY, facility for the duration of the internship. 

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Compensation Data

Hourly compensation for this internship ranges from $25.41-$29.42 an hour. Vulcraft of New York will provide and fund housing during the duration of the internship for non-local interns. 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Candidate must be pursuing or intending to pursue a degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Emphasis in structural design
• Working knowledge of all Microsoft programs
