Job Title: Lab Technician

Immediate Supervisor: Quality Manager

Summary: The lab technician is responsible for carrying out various lab procedures/test and running lab equipment to ensure products meet specification, as well as food safety and quality requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ability to be trained in all laboratory procedures that are utilized in the operation in regards to both food safety and quality.
• The technician shall be trained and qualified to operate the Laboratory Equipment including calibration techniques for each piece of equipment utilized in the Food Safety and Quality program.
• Trained and Qualified in the appropriate methods of testing.
• All testing results must be entered in the appropriate log and signed by the Technician. 
• Follow all GMP, Safety and Work policies at all times.
• Notify immediate supervisor when deviations occur.
• Inspect all equipment to ensure proper operation and safety.
• Follow operational procedures and complete the required paperwork.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent skills by experience.
• Must be able to read, interpret and understand written and oral directions.
• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies.
• Must be able to verbally communicate and understand the English language.
• Attend a Chemical Safety Training session within the past 12 months.
• Attend GMP, FSMA, Food Defense Awareness and Allergen training.
• Comply with all GMP requirements.
• Comply with all requirements for Personal Protective Equipment.
• Comply with all Safety rules & policies.

Physical Requirements:

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee will be required to operate a computer and keyboard; have visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech; manual dexterity to operate a telephone; lift horizontally and vertically, bend and stoop.
